Will be a fairly different team next season you would imagine. Davor 100% stays, the next step is breaking into the top 4. No reason we can't with the way things are going and I've heard some promising rumours around Harris, Turner and Hickey showing up next year

Really need to look at signing a quality centre-back. Kaltack was okay but it was a huge blow to lose him to the O-League midseason, especially as he was late arriving in the first place.

Rumour of a coaching change? Can somebody enlighten me? I've heard nothing that I could trust.....

Is Ifill sticking around for next year or will he pull the plug?

Ifill has said he's not playing for Tasman next year, had enough of travelling

might not be change of coach, could just be the end of season review, most ISPS coaches are on season only contracts

I don't see any reason that Favorited should leave. He's done a good job so far.

This was the latest update following their final game

Although it is understood the job is his if he wants it next season, Tavich is now off contract and said he will meet with Tasman board's in the coming weeks before committing to another campaign.

"I'm going home [to Croatia] in September for a few weeks and I have to sit down with Tasman's board and see what's the best way to go for me and for them next season. At this stage I haven't committed to anything yet."

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/domestic/10...

Tasman United are about to announce a new operations manager, which has been advertised and possibly even been decided by now. Also Nelson Bays Football have a new GM in Nic Foster, who created and managed the Nelson Art Expo.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/103351742...

I can't imagine Ifill wanting to coach if the travel is his main reason for "retiring". Coaching would only be a bigger commitment.

Wild speculation, but I wonder if Tasman will try go for Calcott? There are links between him and people involved at Tasman..

Davor steps down as coach to return to Croatia for family reasons. Tasman on the hunt for a new gaffer!

heard from a bloke called Alex Moore that they already have one

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest given the current links between Tasman and North Wellington. Would also explain why I ran into Tasman United board members at a NW game the other week.

Isn't Matt Campbell involved there now? I know Maksym Kowal has signed for North Wellington.

Yeah he's working with the 1st team and under 17s apparently. Will be back at Tasman in summer though (might even be commuting back and forth from Nelson at the moment?)

No other local options?

Permalink Permalink

There's probably a pool of Steve Bignall, Ben Wright, Paul Brydon and John Slotemaker who would be local contenders. I think they will get a lot of interest though.

I think Biggsy would be up to it, not sure how Ben would do but he may be in the squad again next year anyway. Probably wouldn't want Brydon.

Wouldn't go near Slottsy with a 10 foot pole though, would definitely break any "no dickheads" rule we have.

Thought Slottsy had decided to give up coaching all together after his last stint at Suburbs?

Think if Ben Wright was involved it'd be as an assistant - especially if he is in the squad as a player

Biggsy would be ok, but still think you'd be looking to Johnsonville for who the next coach will be

anyway Tasman advertised for a new head coach via FB today

Slottsy currently coaches one of the Richmond women's teams. Hasn't been at the top level of local football for a while if memory serves.

I'm personally expecting someone from outside the region.

Biggsy? cause of the local options mentioned he's the only one that people (OK me and Nelfoos) have said would be OK (which is different from saying he should get it)

Yeah Biggsy is by far and away the best coach of the lot of them. Best coach I've ever had but I think there are better options.

Weenix are a pretty exclusive/privileged group - mostly schoolboys and the odd Nix pro player. So, this is his first time coaching a senior team then - players with full time jobs, rent/mortgage to pay, partners  etc. It will present him with different challenges. Big call from TU board, hope he does well.
