I would not believe that at all. They had crowds of 1500 in the first season but there were games last season where there would have been 200 odd. I think the players are told "our crowds are great, we get 1500" but that was when the team was brand new and it was a novelty. The move to Saxton Field last season had a massive impact on the crowds, as did their poor home form, and although it has gone up again, I'd be surprised if they even get 500. Just look at the photos.
Yes big crowds year one, year two was on track for average crowds of 1500 when we were top of the league but then we got moved to Saxton . There was no crowd of 200 in the first to years, there was about 500 to one of the Saxton games. But 2000+ to First home game and Canterbury at home.
Ive been a regular over the last three seasons and was there Sunday. No question, is it was close to a 1000 but not alot more than that. Whatever you want a say about it - a fantastic ISPS home crowd figure - especially for a team that started poorly.
Some really top numbers year 1 - when the team was a novelty- your right - it struggled last year, especially towards the end.
If home crowds stay above 500 and get close to a 1000 at times - then I'd say Tasman still doing a lot of good things.

if the general league crowds are anything like TW then it is pretty shocking for our countries national league. Bring back the 80s

The lack of noise was pretty noticeable and kind of depressing against Canterbury, could definitely notice fewer people attended than they used to

4000 might be pushing it. They had to have free admission to the Final to ensure they would get a crowd.
Its hard to feel any atmosphere at Prem games. I went to an Eastern Suberps game the other week against Auckland (which I thought was a thriller) and got asked by the lady standing next to me not to make too much noise as she had a sleeping kid in a pram. Now I don't like the thought of wakeing a kid but this is football right?
Agreed - but I might be bias...Tasman home crowd was buzzing in that 2nd half Saturday - you can hear it on video with the goals.

Clubs like Waitakere have zero footprint outside of matchdays, Auckland just steamrolls everyone, Team Wellington are the plucky challengers and everyone else scraps it out to get beaten by them in the playoffs.
This is the first year where going to local games isn't really a priority for me. I've caught one and a half ACFC games this year, and vaguely watched a couple on TV.
Kiernan Hughes-Mason, who's at Tasman, has blogged on his impressions as a player and it's spot on tbh. The quality is the best you're going to get in NZ live, but it's not of a consistently great team or individual quality as a whole.

Tasman looked really good defensively, goalkeeper Nick Stanton was absolutely outstanding, as was Jordy Yong at LB and Fox Slotemaker and Sammy Ayers at CB. Offered nothing going forward through, some big runs from Kiore and Winterton held the ball up well at times but distinctly lacking any threat other than that.
At one point, while defending a corner Tasman had a all 11 players in the box. They went up the other end won won a corner, and committed a whole 4 players into the opposition box. The entire back line stayed back in formation.

There is a school of thought that defending set-pieces are a great chance to counter, so bringing all of your players back gives them more space to attack. Keeping your defenders back when you have an attacking set-piece is an obvious extension of that.

Why on earth was it played in Blenhiem. The facilities were terrible. Heard lots of complaints. The Men's toilets were locked. Women's toilet's dirty and no loo paper and the stadium seats were absolutely covered in Bird Poop, not just a little, but heaps. The field was so bobbly, even in the teams warm up you could see the ball bobbling around.'If Blenhiem want to host these games, at least sort the field out so that it is playable at a decent level. Walked across it after the game, you could feel all the lumps under the grass.The grass looked good, but was long and slowed the ball down. No good looking pretty if it isn't up to scatch for football, probably all good for Rugby.' Not a good look for Tasman Football.
Heard the changing rooms were an embarrassment.
The game scrappy to say the least.
Tasman were all about muscle rather than football and the player sent off had been mouthing off the whole game.
Refereeing was very average.
TW looked like they wanted to play, but the ground was so bad it kept bobbling around.Not a great example of Premiership level football.

It is amateur football. What are you expecting?
Every ground in the Prem is top notch. The Blenheim excursion meant they played on a pitch not suitable for the Prem, and that's not good enough for our standards
For a Premiership level game, you would expect a half decent facility. Not a ground where you can't even provide hygienic facilities for the supporters and players. Other teams manage to provide facilities and half decent fields. If you want your community to get behind Tasman and support it, at least make it a decent experience. Blenhiem was an embarrassment all round.

Definitely changed the game, Tasman completely dominated the last 60 minutes and were good value for their 3 goals.
