good work wodger. keep us posted on any other signings.
i posted an article a week or so ago, when colin tuaa was named
coach which detailed a few signings. would be good to stay
informed on any further signings and how liam mulrooney's injury is
going
cheers mate
and yeah, gill has signed for waikato. i spoke to
gisborne main man kevin whitley a few weeks back and he said that
he had a nzfc sides after him, but was going for waikato because
his mate dan robinson was going to sign there again
on that note, interesting to see robinson on the bench for
gissy at central league level now that utting has signed and at
this stage will be waikato's number one at nzfc level.

Fallon said he thought Robinson was now basically an NZFC player
where Utting was in for the long haul. Could be tied to the
timing of the NZFC.
On a different note, anyone know what Gisborne pays its
players?

Strikers will be Costa and Draper ?
No. They play in an Australian competition, if they transfer to Team Wellington (even on loan) it will use the one international transfer FIFA allows in a calendar year and they will not be able to transfer back and play for the Phoenix.

...and we will need them at the phoenix come AWs time...

Sorry Hard News but your not quite right there...they can be
on an international loan to TW and then return to Phoenix...don't
know if it will happen but it is within rules

what's Luis Coralles up to? Is he part of the TW set up or not?
anyone know?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Steve, almost there with the rules. The International Loan Player
clause requires the player concerned to have played for the All
Whites after 1 Jan 2006.
Neither Draper or Costa have played for the All Whites and neither was named in Ricki's squad for the World Cup Qualifiers. Looking unlikely to be available to TW unless they get a late call up and play against Vanuatu in Oct allowing them to be named in TW before the start of the NZFC.
Having said that the NZFC rules would allow them to come inot our league but would the A-League allow them to return as and when Ricki required them. Loan Agreements for professionals are very specific.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't he classed as
an amateur player until he takes to the field in a A league
game ??

it all should be moot in my opinion
FIFA doesn't give a toss about the NZFC, the rules were
designed for others. it's amatuer, it's little, it's barely
noticed, so why don't we just design our own rules and argue to
anyone who resists that they are necessary for the development of
our game?!
it made me laugh watching glynn taylor trip over himself
trying to stop good players from transferring into/around the nzfc
last year. i know these are the 'rules', but what does this
do for the game's development!?

I doubt the problem is with the NZFC anyway, my bet is the problem
would be with the FFA. Also, isn;t there a 4 week stand down
to transfer between professional and amateur ?

Just my take on the regulation...I think Phoenix could give 4 weeks
notice and loan a player to any NZFC franchise and call that player
back with 24hours notice however it could only happen once...i.e.
that player couldn't return to the NZFC team

On the local scene I agree that NZ should behave like the
Aussies and write our own rules as stopping players play at NZFC
level and below due to FIFAs 3 club rule is a nonsense for
us...players on the fringe of NZFC football can end up missing out
on playing regional football which is ridiculous...and for the very
few that would be good enough to play for the phoenix they should
be allowed to be called upon.

I think you will find that a player who has signed a professional contract is a professional player.
As for Loan Players - only All Whites and those players in the Academy are able to be taken on a loan basis. So possibly Phoenix could loan Draper & Costa to TW but then they would have a 4 week stand down to become amateurs.
The first game of the NZFC is in Nov so they still have time.
However, won't they then transgress the 3 club rule? Presumably they played some winter football be fore going to their respective world cups. TW would be club number two and then the Phoenix would be club number 3.
The A League were not concerned last year when Dean Gordon did this playing for Albany, Auckland City and Knights. Although they stopped Sydney registering certain players for the Asian Champions League based on the three club rule.
What a wonderful mess we have created!!

I'm pretty sure Costa at least stopped playing for Olympic before the cut off so Phoenix is only his first club. Not sure on the other two though
