Does anyone know if he has been approached by an NZFC team.

He's too good to be wasted only playing for Gisbourne.  I was a critic of his at time but I believe that Hickey is a confidence player and when his confidence / morale was good he played well, whether for NZ, Kingz, in Finland or the Knights.

I was very dissapointed that he retired this year after an obvious falling out with Herbert.

I am sure he was approach by NZFC teams but is he a footballer these days or a celebrity. Hickey is a confidence player but I am not sure if he has the fire he used to have and when its time to stop playing then it's just time.

Plus if he played in Auckland, who would he play for and would he be happy sitting on the bench behind other players. Got to be a reason he has not signed for either Auckland franchise

If he was keen to head to Gissie, going to Waikato, Napier (sorry HB) or Team Welli wouldn't be too difficult.

Probably has just had enough of the bigger stuff.

He was playing for gisbourne outta respect for the club and the coach ( kev).

wasnt the reason why he 'retired' was because had other interests?
time and energy are things he probably cannont put into football anymore.

I loved Noah Hickey he showed such passion for the knights. To my memory I think he might have been offered a championship contract only last year but chose to stay with the knights for the last couple of games. Maybe im wrong but im sure I remember something of the sort.

he was offered something at walsall i think, but couldn't get a work permit.  that was the beginning of the end really.  he's now working on setting up some coaching schools.  i had hoped to see him on an nzfc squad list, but i'm sure that would have been announced by now.

Talked to Noah a couple of weeks back - said Waitak were keen but he's just not into it any more.
