What's happened at Rewa? Saw Jerson moved to Auckland, and I think the coach has been moved along?

Went to Birko vs City. A pretty good game.

Birko absolutely dominated City in the first half. Genuinely never seen City have less possession - they barely strung together two or three passes. Monty Patterson was consistently dangerous.

Second half Birko wasn't able to quell City's possession as much and they worked their way back into the game.

Auckland City 2-1 West Coast Rangers.

Tong Zhou with a free kick in the 27th minute then the fun ensued.

Conor Tracey gets sent off for DOGSO in the 31st minute Auckland City don't have a substitute keeper so Angus Kilkolly goes in goal.

WCR equalise on the stroke of half time through Alec Death.

Kilkolly made a good save in the second half forcing a good shot onto the crossbar and Derek Tieku missed a penalty.

Then in second half stoppage time Regont Murati pops up for the winner for Auckland City

An hour plus with 10 men and with a striker in goal and the ACFC went on to win. Wow.

Anyone know the Hib vs Coast result? website just says 3-3 which obviously shouldn't be possible in a ko tournament

Just flicked on the Eastern Suburbs vs West Coast Rangers match on FIFA+. Whoever was in charge of marking the lines had a few drinks! That halfway line and centre circle look like they've gone through a bit of liquefaction.

Kane Wintersgill fuming at the bottom of the screen. I like how the Rangers players turned and pointed at the dogs after the goal went in too. 😂

Probably surprising that it hasn't happened before ! Madills Farm just a suburban paddock.
Went to Birko v Hamilton Wanderers this evening
Finished 0-0.
Birko very disjointed and a very average performance. Patterson had a penalty saved in the second half and Birko had a goal disallowed for offside in injury time
With 5 games in 14 days Birko rested Piper , Jorgenson and Philip which may have contributed to disjointed nature. All 3 came on in the second half and did lift things a little.
Hamilton probably better than their position on the table indicated , particularly in view of having to make two injury enforced subs in the first half
I know Auckland City won which puts them top ahead of Wednesday nights meeting at Shepherds Park
Officiating was very average but affected both sides evenly
Fisrt time I had seen Liam Fellowes play. Apart from about 18 inches in height difference he is the spitting image of his father Dash (but not as gobby!)

Suburbs players needed to mention the Liverpool-Sunderland beach ball incident to the ref to get the goal to stand.

The St Heliers, Kohimarama, Mission Bay facebook had 70+comments just last Friday after some new signs went up that said ...
  • No dogs on playground and sports surfaces at all time
  • Dogs on leash near playground and sports surfaces at all times
  • Dogs under control off leash on all other areas at all times
that had omitted the clause "(when in use)" which got the local dog fanatics riled up.  Someone has tagged Ralph Rutherford, the disallowed goal scorer into the comments!.

Auckland City 3-1 win over Birkenhead to go 5 points clear with 3 games to go.

Stipe Ukich, Adam Mitchell and Kailan Gould with Dino Botica scoring a late consolation for Birkenhead.

ACFC theoretically can win it on Saturday should they beat Wanderers at Kiwitea and Auckland United beat Birko at Keith Hay Park.

Eastern Suburbs still have a game in hand, so the earliest Auckland can wrap up the Northern League would be next weekend - Results dependant of course.

I'll stick this here, because I found it a really interesting article, and the guy his basically DOF at Birkenhead.

A Kiwi guy who spent 12 years coaching overseas, including 5 years in Fulham's Academy system, and has his UEFA A badge.

Now coaching at OFC, Birkenhead and Westlake Boys. He had some very interesting takes on how we should be coaching young kids in NZ, and not over loading them with parental pressure. In his view only the Nix and in the future Auckland FC can really say they have proper Academies, sellinng the pro football pathway.

Parents & kids can get misled being in an academy at a amateur club, thinking they are 'elite'. This when the chances of ever being a pro footballer are so very slim. And overall we don't want the UK system with devasted young kids released from an Academy at 16. It doesn't need to be like that in NZ, no need to rush.

Also unlike say Derclan, he believes kids can play club & school football in tanderm. But then yeah he does coach at Westlake Boys.

The top 4 all bottled it today.........

I was at Manurewa vs Auckland City on a substandard pitch at Memorial Park 6 pitches there and the only pitch with no grass on it hosted the game. ACFC with 8 players out and several playing out of position struggled and Manurewa scored their opener in the first few minutes before Angus Kilkolly equalised from the penalty spot only for Auckland City to give away a penalty moments later which Manurewa converted to make it 2-1 which it stayed.

Then inexplicably with the chance to pounce and force the title race into next weekend Birkenhead lost 3-2 to Tauranga City and Eastern Suburbs and Western Springs both drew their matches against Hamilton Wanderers and West Coast Rangers respectively handing Auckland City their 4th successive Northern League title.

After sharkting the bed a fortnight ago, Manurewa defeated Manukau 4-2 in the first leg of the promotion/relegation play-off tie.
