anyone know why the replay of this game has disappeared off the internet - every link I have says it's private.

A possible reason is an extended pre-match conversation between the commentators (who weren't aware their mikes were live,) traversing a gamut of issues, and distinctly uncomplimentary re NZF

Really - I was not aware of this.

I actually tuned in early and heard some of this - should have recorded it lol.

There is a replay of the match at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSzYbveashg, sadly sans the pre-match entertainment provided by Dewhurst and Ngata

Hilarious. Wonder if they'll be covering games this weekend?

Anyone who heard the conversation care to share it's specific details?

I tuned in and heard them talking in the background and there was 20 odd minutes counting down to kick off. heard a few f bombs and went off to make some lunch and did not think anything of it. Pity I never actually listened!

How much research do these commentators do because they frequently get player name pronunciations wrong.

Three for me, and two for them.

Damn, Olympic really showing Birko up today. 2-0 currently, but they have been a cut above since kickoff. Could very easily be 3-4 but for some last ditch defending.

Be absolutely brilliant if they managed to beat city in the final.

That’s probably a bit harsh on Birko, Rodic (not Rodick haha) hasn’t really had much to do, several Basalaj saves plus the post denying Birko. Shame that Birko are undermanned, as Olympic are a very good team with a squad that money can’t buy

Olympic look absolutely quality. Probably the best keeper in the competition, a decent defence, hard-working midfield and firey attack, two critical wins in a row against tough opposition, you fancy they'll be in the final at this stage.

Perhaps a little bit harsh from me to be fair - Birko are a very good side in their own right, but I thought Olympic just looked class throughout.

What a squad they have as well - Across the board just a phenomenally well put together side. How JHS doesn't get a pro gig is beyond me, by far and away the best domestic player in the country.

He was probably trialling for a position at the Phoenix which didn't really exist which is a bugger. I can't remember any signing after that (maybe Zawada but different positions), so he was always shooting from outside the D. He could have a career trajectory similar to Rogerson; couple of pro gigs that didn't work out, but a killer at NL level, and then find a home in a place like Finland. They are the same age. Obviously depends what he wants outside of footy as well, guys like Howieson and Clapham before him opted against moves. There was a tweet from the agent who got Toomey and Zeb to Finland replying to Jason Pine (after announcing the Phoenix hadn't signed JHS) that he would discuss JHS' options going forward. Doesn't mean he will go overseas, but maybe they'll circulate a few tapes of this NL and see what eventuates.

Olympic bossed the day, and after such an early goal after giving it away in midfield, Birko were always up against it. They did not look fluid at all and a game  away to Olympic after last weeks top of the table clash was always going to be a big ask.
It would be ideal if we could have home/away games as this one off format is tough. Pity we can't have a semi, then final too as this format seems to short change us all.
5 yellow card to zero and a missed penalty tells its own story, yet Birko had three very good chances as previously mentioned, that on another day go in and its a different ball game.

I reached out to him on twitter after his trial had finished at the Nix and we got to chatting (Palmy connection 🤝) and he wasn't planning to head overseas at that stage for football. But I know this is not gospel & situations change often on a whim. I guess it comes down to what the lad is after and what kind of offers are potentially on the table. I hope something comes up for him though, he'd be deserving of a shot thats for sure.

Vale falling over rolling a few times then clutching his head as Napier break the line… ref stopping the game… then Vale jogging back into position without needing to go off is pretty ridiculous.

I was thinking the same about the 2 guys doing Auckland City game. Could they blow any more smoke up Bill Robertson

Good game coming to a conclusion at a soaked Keith Hay Park this arvo.

Currently 3-2 in Auckland United's favour against City.

Don't think I can recall a time I've seen an Auckland City side look so unconvincing. Save for a couple of brilliant Emiliano Tade strikes from the top of the box to draw City level twice, they've looked decidedly ordinary today.

Wonder if fatigue is getting to them? They've played a lot of football this season, that was their 38th game of the season, which is a fair bit. That's 10 more than Olympic and 8 more than Birkenhead and Auckland United. In fine margins that could be a factor. Tade might be a bit fresher given he doesn't play every minute nowadays.

It is a bit nice seeing them lose though tbh, I think the last time they didn't finish top of a league they participated in was in the 12/13 NZFC season when Waitakere United finished four points above them. I'd be a bit disappointed if we left the Auckland City and Team Wellington duopoly behind just to get an Auckland City and Wellington Olympic duopoly though.

City have a generous run in which will probably save them. They've got all the top half sides out the way already.

Was another good game in horrible weather.

I think it's starting to dawn on the better sides that City aren't that good. I've said it before I'll say it again - City can painfully maintain possession and patience but they're really not that good at doing anything with it. They can be outplayed - Tade can only produce so much magic!

And this is probably why AU won't make the final as well.

They're certainly proving otherwise so far this campaign.

Damn I wish this National League was a home & away season.

Garbhan Coughlan started the rot in this one, gave away the silliest penalty against Birko. Raising his forearm above his head to protect is face from a free kick. The resulting free kick clips the arm - Can't have any complaints on that one, that was dumb football.

After starting off in the ascendancy with the early goal, Cashmere have been torn to shreds these last 10 minutes to find themselves 4-1 down! It's brutal from Birko.

Why is Paul Ifiil still playing? Looks totally out of condition. Is contributing flicks and hopeful crosses. Surely the Russian owners can't be impressed. A 42 year old on the field ahead of potential young talent. Makes a mockery of the game in NZ again.

Don't know what was in the water this week, we got 32 goals across the five games with no real blowouts (at least in the final score), and every team scored at least twice. Some really good goals too; just today Donkers, Schnell, Matthysen, Connor-McClean, Galletly and Tod-Smith all scored quality goals. Then yesterday there were good goals from Akers, Mason-Smith, Tade, Fay.

Christchurch Utd have their work cut out to not get the spoon. They play Miramar next week, and if they fail to win that then it could well be theirs, given they have City, Olympic and Tech to close it out.

Melville were up 5-0. It was certainly a blowout.

I mean over a multiple years period, like ACFC and TW used to do. Olympic good enough to make the National League every year and consistently make top half, but this is only one year. Miramar were probably the best team in the country in 2021, but look a shadow of themselves this year.
