The Blues have signed experienced forward, Ricky Gillies tonight on a one year contract.  The Former St Mirren, Aberdeen and Partick man put pen to paper this evening at the Blues training complex and manager, Gerry Britton is delighted with his signing.

Im very happy with the signing of Ricky, he is a player that we have been tracking for some time and he has been training with us for a couple of weeks and he has shown that extra level of composure and experience that you would expect a player of his experience to show and this is a good capture for us as around three to four other clubs were keeping close tabs on him.  He did well for us in last Saturdays friendly against Gretna and he enjoyed the game and the club was sold to him that day as he appreciates the set-up we have and the type of footballing objectives we have set ourselves for the coming campaign and he wants to be part of what we are trying to achieve.

Ricky is the fourteenth confirmed squad signing for the 2007-08 campaign and The Blues manager is expected to make further signings in the next seven days

Cheers Gumboot. He played with Thistle for a while. Wasn't that impressive and didn't really do much. Had a lot of promise when he was younger but never really lived up to it. Just wondered what the HB fans thought of him

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

"Being a Partick Thistle fan sets you apart. It means youre a free thinker. It also means your team has no money." Tim Luckhurst, The Independent, 4th December 2003

little is known about this young english lad who has set tongues wagging in the wellington area, offered a contract last year by TW he refused but with the phoenix coming to wellington the news is he will be moving out for the new season.

Is this the guy that turned his back on NZ to play for Scotland?

mcglinchey is a kiwi born scotsman who decided on the scotland bench ahead of a likely starting place with the nz u20s at the recent world cup

that's a real pity that gillies probably won't be back.  a player of real quality who lifted the standard of what was at times a pretty poor side
