Been good to see ACFC and Canty Crowds edging towards 1000 recently. I've always thought that wth the right marketing there was no reason why the crowds at some grounds couldn't get into the thousands (1000-3000). 1400 paying adults @10bucks times 7 home games is 100k + merch, food and drink (long long way to go before you jump down my throat). Canty have been doing some good things this year with hospo packages, take a kid to footy and host clubs.

So a couple questiosn for discussion.

1.What are the thoughts on what the attendeces could/should be?

2. What are thoughts on why they have been so low (for the most part)?

3. What would get you/more people to the grounds?

Not sure when a canty crowd is anywhere near 1000. Might have been close to 500 once or twice but never 1000 surely.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

TW crowds where always reported as being between 1,000 and 1,500 in the first few years.

They have now dropped off as they play mid afternoon instead of late afternoon early evening as they did for the first 3 seasons.

Do fliers get around the clubs on a saturday? I think a lot of the support and hype needs to be drummed up there. Maybe liase with someone from the club to give it a rate and a mention every weekend.

Sounds stupid,but itd work.

The problem there though is that the NZFC season finishes before Saturday football fires up and the clubs don't have a lot of contact with the member base in the off-season.

I think more needs to be done to engage with that base, but it might need the clubs to be willing to make some effort and perhaps more of the clubs to engage with Team Wellington.

Has to be a two way street though doesnt it? TW needs to come to the clubs to try to get support,as much as the clubs need to support it and get their members along to watch.

But yeah point taken about the timing of seasons. Didnt think about that at all.

I know for the semi last year, they (we) tried to get it around at the Hilton.  Not sure if it helped the crowd (hindered by Homegrown being the same night) as I was WAY too chopped to know.

How about giving every club player a free ticket to the first home game towards the end of the winter season. Hopefully that at least gets people through the door where you can then bombard them with marketing stuff.

Am going to be living closer to newtown park. (I hope) So going to a Wellington game should be way easier.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

First NZFC season the clubs in Christchurch got season tickets to sell to players, haven't seen this happen again though.

This ^^ I remember it happening lots, but now the clubs dont get involved in promoting the games. HN did point out that the seasons dont really overlap though, but i still think more can be done to let people know the games are on! I wouldnt know when they are half the time if it wasnt put on a banner on here.

They made it better though by doing season tickets rather than just game tickets. Just as club football is ending you buy a season ticket for the NZFC so it didn't matter that they didn't overlap.

thats all Otago do with the clubs. Getting clubs to Sell season tickets. They don't rip off the players in Dunedin like those from the village of the damned.
