Based on the A Leagues Johnny Warren Medal theme (awards), that Smeltzy came 3rd in over all for last season. Who would get your vote for the NZFC so far?

Categories are;

1.Overall player of season (so far)
2.Rising Star award best u20's player (so far)
3.Coach of the year award (so far)
4.Goalkeeper of the year award (so far)
5.Goal of season (so far)

Will NZFC have these awards do you think at end of season? would be interesting to see how many match up.

One that stands out for me for 1. has to be Ben Sigmund! He'll be at Phoenix next season!

1. Overall player of season (so far)
Ben Sigmund (Auckland City)
2. Rising Star award best u20's player (so far)
Cole Peverley (Hawkes Bay United)
3. Coach of the year award (so far)
Toss up between Stu Jacobs (cause he got Wellington to play football and returned them to a position of strength which Mick Waite couldn't do) and Colin Tua'a (for getting Ulhmann and Coombes to concentrate on playing the ball and not the man)
4. Goalkeeper of the year award (so far)
Dan Robinson (for not making as many clangers as say Eaddy or Williams although Nicholson gets a mention purely for the clean sheets he has had)
5. Goal of season (so far)
Menapi for kicking the skin off the ball against Otago. Just absolutely spanked it.
6. Ref of the season (so far)
Kevin Stoltenkamp
7. Best Surface
Waikato Stadium
8. Best Import (so far)
Kevin Taylor (Otago)

That's a little harsh... Team Wellington always played football, it's just that they fell apart defensively late in the match too often.  Usually they should have been well up by that point.

Stu has added consistency and a defence.

Possibly but by the same token and I mean this as no offence to Colin and his ability as a coach because I rate him, if you inherit a side thats won 3 championships in a row and in the 4th season, are still top of the table, how can you justify that as coach of the year material? Granted he has them playing a totally different style of football but they are in the same place they have always been, top of the table. Wellington have climbed out of the cellar. Added a defence and consistency? If Ricki does that next year, we get results and get off the bottom half of the table, we will be asking for him to be coach of the year in the HAL awards.....
