So i just read that three players from the NZFC (youth or senior teams) have been selected to go over to Australia and train / play in front of scouts etc.

Any idea how good they are, i have heard of two of them but never seen them play or read any anctual opinions.

The players are:

Alex Rufer (team of the month apparently - good for a 16 / 17 year old?)

Liam Jordan (saw a news clip, was scoring at college level - more to do with his dad's cancer though)

Matthew Ridenton (not a clue about him at all)

Are there any other 16 / 17 year olds playing in the top comp?

Seen all these 3 play recently.. All outstanding talents. All on  a par with Tim Payne at this age...

David Browne for ACFC has recently turned 17 I believe but he's a PNG national so not sure if that counts.

David Browne is a nice little footballer. Extremely quick. If you would compare him to Marco (because of size and stature) he is quicker but the foot work is not quite there yet. Very lithe.

He needs to go into a pro program now. Would be an ideal Phoenix youth member.

Grumpy old bastard alert

This lad is a delight to watch. I hope he gets more game time.

I guess we still don't know how good the Phoenix pro programme is yet - the youngsters they have at present are there largely because of the work of others - but I would certainly be interested to learn what programmes Browne has been on to date, that have developed him to this level.

How long has he been in New Zealand for and is he eligable to play for NZ?

Can a player move age group teams, I see he's played for PNG under 17's - does this mean he now could not turn out for a NZ side u17's of u20's?

Any idea on how they went?

Did they manage to make the all star teams for the final day?
