Personaly, I don't like the idea of  Hogg  returning 'Just like that'...he buggers off to Waitak to try and make the squad for World Club Champs ...fails ..then runs back to HBU for a cuddle and a game.. HBU need players that love the club, the supporters and the province, not football mercenaries like him.

I'm sure JACKSAFOX will correct me  somehow....

i think calling him a mercenary is inaccurate! to clarify a few things sources have revealed hogg received little to no financial gain from waitakere. any money he will receive from hawkes bay will barely cover half the petrol costs associated with the 5hour drive from auckland!! he was unavialable for world club champs due to u20 commitments! from what i have seen in the past hogg has always been 100% committed in games for hawkes bay united maybe we should get in behind the lad and support him he will def improve the quality of the hawkes bay squad!!

I do agree he is a very useful player, but that amounts to diddly squat if  passion and commitment are missing  and by my reckoning, changing horses mid season smacks of a lack of those two ingrediants...  If he was 100% committed to HBU, then how come he left.....???

passion and commitment are two of hoggs best qualities, you cant blame a player for moving to an oleague club in his own town and now that things didnt work out hes leaving to seek regular game time at the only other club hes played for. i dont see the problem you have with that.

i have to agree with closingtime. The guys 19 whats wrong with trying to play in the big comps such as fifa world club champs and putting yourself out there. Waitak are the closest thing in the NZFC to a pro outfit and at 19 im sure he has ambitions and who are Hawkes Bay to hold him back.... he's not a local lad im sure he would have been a waitak or auck city fan during the original season of NZFC. he came to HB to play regular football and begin his NZFC career and he tried his hand with waitak, it didnt work out and now we have him back which can't do any harm for united at all. move davies to right back hoggy at left and get oxtoby off the pitch because he lets the team down when he has the ball

But if you want to play football, which is everyone says in this thread is the reason for his move, surely money is not the issue then?

The way I view it was that he obviously backed himself to have a crack at Waitakere and he has failed (regardless of my dislike of him as a footballer, I'm not surprised). You either suck it up and ride that season out as a learning curve because you undertook an agreement that you would be committed to that team to play for them for the season and they agreed to sign you or if you want to play elsewhere, then you pay for it yourself.  And this is an AMATEUR competition before anyone says anything about it being the way of the footballing world.

Stay in Auckland and sit on the bench, or fork out your own cash if you want regular 1st team football elsewhere - I don't see why HBU are clipping part of his ticket considering he left them in the first place and now wants to come back because he failed. Probably should have considered that BEFORE he looked at moving to Waitakere when he had a good deal in the Bay

Agent 47 you have lost the plot or cannot read correctly. money cannot be an issue with this boy since he could have stayed at waitakere, sat on the bench and collected his win bonus, a player after money would have done that. This boy appears to just want a game-which any committed footballer would want! You have got no clue if you believe a player should stick around at a club where you are not playing-particularly at this level. My guess is he was not treated right at waitakere and the bay coach jumped at the opportunity to have him back. I think this young boy was class at the Olympics. I agree with jacksfox get oxtoby off, and slip his boy in straight away.

Can't be arsed trawling through everything but I think the point A47, and others, are making is that he WAS getting a game but then decided to bugger off to try and get a game somewhere else, then came back when that didn't work the way he wanted it to.

So it's not just a case of 'the boy just wants a game'. If it was as simple as that, he'd never have left the Bay in the 1st place, would he?

To quote your post "You have no clue if you believe a player should stick around at a club where you are not playing..". He didn't stick around at a club where he WAS playing!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

In other transfer news John Chisholm who is starting his new job with westpac bank in auckland has decided to leave OTAGO UNITED, He was going to commute but with the positon we are in it would seem foolish to commute all that way for in reality no return

Waitaks better than Hawkes Bay as much as i hate to admitt it. Whats wrong with wanting to play for the best team in the league. its like saying someone should stay at west brom after having been scouted by man united.

No... it's like someone going to Man U from West Brom and then after two months running back to West Brom.

How's my driving? - Whine here

He would have wanted a crack at the top team in the league and once he realised he was not up to that level has returned to a win win situation Hawkes Bay could do with him and at a young age he will be utilized rather than sit on the bench or not in the squad like so many others out there.

How much good is it doing Greg Draper at the Phoenix - no one really knows how good he is in a week in week out situation.

Its a good move for Hogg good on him, some players would have to much pride to back track on a move like that.

I agree with your point about going to a better team Jacks but in this case, he has lasted what, November, December and half of January? (you really don't play preseason)

With still 5 rounds, plus playoffs, plus O League, there are plenty of opportunities to stay and fight for his spot back, but he hasn't choosen to do that. I think he should have sucked it up an stayed for the rest of the season (April?), honouring his committement to the original agreement and taken as a learning experience. At least that way, he might have won some kudos for manning up and taking the hit for his own choices.

At the moment, he can't even do that.

A couple of rumours from me... if i didnt put nay up people would get disapointed!

1.  John Chisolm who has just departed rom Dunedin to start his new life in Auckland is on the radar of Dave Edmonson.  He would add depth to an already strond defense and might be very useful in the lead up to the play off race.

2.  Campbell Pakrin is apparently on his way out of Hawkes Bay with Otago his likely place to end up.  Campbellstarts uni down there in a couple of weeks and with the imminant arrival of Hogg Parkin migh be out of a job at the Bay.

3.  In a move many never saw coming is Grant Young to Waikato.  He was that pissed of with the way Auckland run things, heh as decided to go to the club most likely to force Auckland out of O league.  He has apparently ben talking to Edmonsen since his departure from Auckland.

4.  Bob Sova has also ben on the blower to a ew players trying to entice them to come down to Palmerston North - According to my sources Craig Wylie could be on his way down there to strenghten up the left side for Manawatu.

5.  Waikato who are looking to be the most active in the window are looking to bring in two old faces back into the frame in the shape of Jeremy Field and Sam Wilkinson.  Both are based in England at the moment but have heard from some of their 'friends' that they might be heading back to give Waikato some extra 'grunt' towards the end of the season.

And Finally....

6.  After spending the first few seasons at Waikato, Matt Williams has ben regreting his decision to head up to Auckland.  Mat is said to think that it is very hard to get on with some of his team mates has decided to join Young in a move down south in an attempt to get the Moo Loo province an opportunity at O League Glory next season.

Agent 47 you have said something correct for once "Well then I obviously don't know the whole story then."

Tell me jag, would you leave a club if asked to sign at an oleague club in which area you live? (correct me if im wrong but doesnt this boy live in waitakere?). my guess is this young boy hogg was promised game time and didnt recieve it and has moved back. Nothign wrong with that. The bay must be very happy for his return.

Did you read what I posted? I didn't give my opinion on whether it was right or wrong. All i did was try to paraphrase what someone else had said.

Your brother wasn't good enough. Nothing to do with promised game time. If you are good enough, you will play.

the difference is this is a 14 league comp 17 at most so if your not getting game time you have to keave after 2 months in order to get any game time what so ever that season

If true, Matt Williams and Grant Young would add a lot of quality to an already humming Waikato squad, something to consider - the squad feeling is so good that will transferring in players affect this, what are your thoughts?

Im not sure why Otago would want to sign a rubbish left back like parkin when they have a young guy like prattley doing a solid job and will do for years to some??? Alough with only 5 defenders on there books they could do with a couple players with Sean Brand leaving for bigger and better things
