Fair to say that El Grap did not manage to keep up with the 1:1 goals to sausage ratio.

Bloody hell was that a mismatch. Kinda felt sorry for the opposition. Great to see TeeDubs not wanting to take the foot off the accelerator but you've got to question the usefulness of these games especially when you factor in the costs associated with travel etc and the fact that the lower placed teams - arguably the ones that are most likely to get knocked out - have to play away from home.

On another note what's up with Watto and has Allen recovered from that virus?

Based on what I've seen of him since he left the Nix I wouldn't be surprised if Jose thinks Watson just isn't good enough.

Watson was in casual gear in the clubrooms during the game. Apparently he was on the squad list as a sub but was scratched off. Guessing injury?

Do you really think that Watson is a good player? Genuinely interested.

Is/was, definitely. The national league was easy for him. Good enough to be signed for the Phoenix. Only good enough for the bench, but still good. That doesn't seem to be the case right now, but like I said whether or not this is a permanent state of affairs is up to him.

When was the national league easy for him?

Are you kidding me?

Did I miss the memo where that said we are all meant to be picking on this guy because of his recent decline, despite the fact that he was good enough to be signed by the phoenix in the first place?

I think the debate is whether he should have been signed in the first place.

Saying that the NZFC/ASB Premiership was easy for him is very generous in my view. To me he always looked like a battler at that level, who managed to make his stats look reasonable rather than outstanding by making the most when playing the poorest teams in the competition. I'd hazard a guess that him being signed by the Nix was seen as a puzzling move by most who had seen him play at the level below the A-league.

I also wonder if he's now lost some of the drive/motivation too, he's not exactly a youngster anymore and it's hard to see big professional opportunities coming his way again.

also believed he was signed as second fiddle to de Vries who declined

Wonder if there will be as much room for young kiwis at ACFC/team welly when Infantino changes the Club World Cup format and qualification process. Appears likely OFC will only have 0.5 of a spot.

Alternatively I guess less $ to pay for the imports.

Ramifications for the HANDA Premiership are huge too.
