Not passing comment - just information.

You can get in to the Final on Sunday Free if you turn up with any evidence that you are a paid up player at any club.  There is also some deal about getting in free with kids.

Just heard it on the radio, but I'll confirm once I see a release.

Yes I know, there are many amusing statements to be made but we have other threads for that.  This one is for facts please.

BAD BREAK FOR HAY MEANS BAD NEWS FOR WAITAKERE

It has been confirmed today that former All White skipper Danny Hay has a fracture in his ankle and is a most unlikely starter for the crucial O-League final return leg at Douglas Field this Sunday.

The Waitakere United captain picked up the injury in the NZFC Grand Final three weeks ago but did not realize the severity of the injury until scans late last week revealed he had a small fracture, leaving a chip floating in the ankle joint.

Waitakere United Head Coach Chris Milicich is resigned to not having the services of his inspirational captain.

The news is not good on Danny and I have effectively crossed his name out from my thinking. It is a blow for him personally and also for us as a team but we will box on and are fortunate to have great experience and quality to call upon in this sort of scenario.

The onus will fall on the likes of Neil Emblen and Jonathan Perry to marshal the side as they have done all year. We will look at our options during the week but Im not short of players ready willing and able to step in.

Waitakere did not sit idle on the weekend, playing in a closed door friendly to keep the players minds and bodies on the job. The approach from Milicich in Sundays game is to attack from the outset to overturn the 3-1 deficit from the first leg in Honiara.

The match has implications for the wider football community with the US$500,000 prize spread across the 8 NZFC clubs and New Zealand Football. The winner earns the money as Oceanias representative at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December.

United will train twice this week with media opportunities on the Tuesday and Friday.

Players and coaching staff will be available for radio, print or television interviews at these times or as arranged but will NOT BE AVAILABLE after Fridays press conference, so please plan any interviews or pre-records around these opportunities.

2-0 Waitakere after 30mins. Now lead on away goals. Commentators estimate crowd of 3000-3500. Was getting worried when commentators spent the best part of 10mins referring to Kossa as "Solomon Islands" (after we spent all season bitching about the Phoenix being called NZ) Fortunately they switched after the first goal.

2-0 Waitakere at Half time (3-3agg) Sounds as though WU have completely dominated, and should be up by more.

Jason Haynes & Koprivic for Waitaks & Reg Davani for Kossa are impressing from the stands.
Haynes is quite strong on the right.

Well done Waitakere. When is the Club Champs? early next year??

Also are Emblem, Hay, Bazeley etc retiering?  If so Waitaere will need a lot of new quality players as they are losing Totori as well.

CWC tournament is always towards the end of every year. Likely December. The soon to be retired players have mainly indicate that they are willing to finish their careers in the CWC. Not sure of the arrangements with Totori concerning this.

If the US league 2 starts end Sept early October , Totori will miss it. Unless CWC is in a FIFA window.

Don't think it is -Emblem is 36, Baze 35 and Hay 33 - I'd say they'll all play one more season.

Bazeley announced his retirement after the game.
Jason Hayne was my MOM. Totori was a combination of fantastic and poor.
Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

Maybe another case of running extreme hot and cold. Like brilliant dribbling but hopeless passing or feeble tackling but great shooting? AllWhitebelievr2008-05-11 19:09:41

Great dribbling, but not offloading enough, still excellent until real cramp/tendons set it (couldn't figure out which ).
Great result for NZ football.

Pretty accurate. His approach play is often excellent but he's then let down by a rush-of-blood finished product.
