Doing everything but scoring now. Doing a bit of a Diego Forlan on
us, superb for his country but rubbish club form. Setting the
record for most touches on the ball in the bloody 6 yard box! Who
has seen him play, does anyone think he's a flop or just needs his
luck to pick up and adjust to the league a little more.
Dom Rowe has been superb from what i've seen from him but as our results show you really need to have two strikers firing on all cylinders up front.

I saw him play against Waitakere and he looked good in the first 30
mins. Of course he got sent off in the second half so that was a
black mark against him. He has those bustling qualities that will
make things difficult for opposing defenders. He got the better of
Danny Hay on a number of ocassions in the first half but he could
have done with some better service from Prince. Everytime Prince
got the ball out wide he just let fly with a power-cross. Osea
rarked him up and told him to bring the ball in - wise words as
Prince had plenty of room to come in closer rather that fire off
crosses to the far corner flag.

I've seen him twice this season against Otago and Canterbury. He
sort of reminds me of Emmanuel Adebayor with his physical
appearance and play. Only difference is that Adebayor regularly
scores goals. He actually shoots at goal for that matter as well.
As for Osea's general play, I don't think you can fault him.
His workrate is immense if you compare him to Totori. He's always
looking to play in other players and makes himself available. He's
good at holding up the ball and tracks back well to make tackles.
Something Totori would never do.
All he needs to do is try and get a shot on goal and make more
use of his left foot.
The Canterbury game probably highlighted his luck in front of
goal with the sitter he missed in the second half.
BTW, why isn't there a Manawatu thread?

'Ullo there Grant!
Gooner, what you've said coupled with what i've observed leads me to believe hes more of a target man, second striker than an out and out goal scorer (but his excellent scoring record in the islands cup or whatever it was called would suggest he's both, bit like the Fijian Alan Shearer) which makes me think we signed him one season too late as him and Totori could've been one of the best partnerships seen so far in the NZFC. Totori never really had a solid strike partner (Gustavo was found lacking alot of the time) and he still did bloody well so imagine him with Osea.
Theres no doubting all the other aspects of Osea's play, it has been quite superb but he really does need to score. Has been good seeing neat first touches from him however and would like to see him and Dom Rowe given some time to gel together as Rowe seems like the ideal player to partner him. Perhaps at the end of the day all he needs to be is a little more selfish too like all the great prolific goal scorers are.

As soon as he scores one, the rest will come...That said, maybe
it's not a bad idea to give Rowe and Nieres a turn up front?

Haven't seen too much of Nieres. He seems eager enough. Give the
lad a chance I say! Did score that penalty for us. Against the scum
as an added bonus.

Gonzalo came off the bench v Otago and scored with one of his first
shots (definitely his first chance)!!!
