Hey guys

Any word on whether NZF or Sky are uploading round highlights to youtube or something similar as to what they did last year? Maybe they already have and I can't find them?

I've manage to miss the highlights show on Sky 3 times in the last 24 hours (I only have SkyGo access)

not sure if they are or will be on youtube yet, but go to the NZ Football facebook page and you can see the goals

Man, I hope they put up proper highlights.

We've had them the last two seasons, if they cut it down to a 3 minute video then NZ Football are getting a sharke deal for the clubs money.

Where can I find the highlights on Youtube? Last season SKY Sport NZ uploaded but it doesn't seem to be the case this season

Nothing yet (and I am bloody hoping they are doing it this year), been keeping an eye out for them to come up.

Here's the link to what they've uploaded to facebook. The Sky Sports youtube channel doesn't look like it gets updated often so I'm not hopeful. I'll be bloody disappointed if there's not comprehensive highlights - why bother filming each game otherwise?

The A League and Fox Sports AU websites have a lot of videos from each round.

Ah, I was the victim of the android app, it doesn't say what category the thread is so I just assumed A-League.

As you were.

I suspect, possibly, that Sky are being even more dipsharkty about their precious footage. If they limit the footage to the broadcast show and the 3 minute goals wrap, then it's going to make it harder for clubs to extend their social media reach.

Shame, because the NZFC stuff on their YouTube page has pulled some of the highest views.

I was posting a comprehensive highlights package and doing a writeup each week for the A-league subreddit last year. Pretty disappointing I won't be able to do the same.

You'd think Sky would want the content to reach as far and wide as possible, but they've shown time and again that their higher-ups don't understand the internet and the impact of it on their business.

A quality NZ football business model as well.  Pay Sky load of money to show the Handy prem and for the privilege of paying them give them the right to stop any alternative broadcast method AND restrict ability to view what is recorded by them.

Commercial fudgeing geniuses at NZ football.

Just to throw more into the "Sky is proper stupid" box...

They have a "catch up" section on SkyGo. It has the full Canterbury vs Waitak game, it's got the NZ Football Weekly, it's even got past All Whites games... why would they not put the highlights show up??

The mind boggles.

Has anyone emailed NZF about this? If clubs are banned from live FB streams or putting something on YouTube there is no way to follow  the game  from overseas. Out of sync with the global game!

I heard they have a system for putting videos online, called Club Upload Management. Not saying it will work but you could try Googling "Handy CUM"?

Wooooooow. That's pretty incredible given the previous two seasons they've had highlights uploaded the Wednesday after games.

Sky are such shark cods.

No bloody highlights on youtube! NZ Football has wasted their money. Clubs should be protesting this and doing their own coverage instead, could do it better and cheaper.

2015/16 - Two televised games a week, Round Highlights on YouTube as 10 min packages, NZFW show from studio with filmed segments/highlights on Tuesday.

2016/17 - One televised game a week (which was good for crowds because Thursday night games were shark), Individual Match Highlights on YouTube by Wednesday after games (which was an IMPROVEMENT), NZFW live after the Sunday televised game, Highlights Show on Tuesday.

2017/18 - One televised game a week, no YouTube highlights, NZFW live show and Tuesday highlights.

If Sky's wondering why they're dropping 20,000+ subscribers, I have some ideas.

I wonder if NZ Footballs payment to Sky has dropped in line with the reduction in content?  It's okay, I suspect I know the answer.

Lets not forget that NZ Football are paying Sky for this and given away the rights to do it.

The Two Minute Ripoff

Football in New Zealand is about to have a huge spotlight shone on it, thanks to the All Whites playoff with Peru next month, yet the available footage from games has been slashed to the barest minimum.

It’s bad for supporters, who are now pretty much back to the situation prior to Sky’s involvement.

Want to see how your team played in the away game you couldn’t afford to get to because it’s down in Dunedin or up in Auckland? Sorry, just the goals from that game.

The wonder-save your keeper made, excitedly reported upon by the clubs Twitter? Sorry, just the goals from that game.

Skills, near misses, red cards, incidents? Yeah, sorry, just the goals from that game.

It’s bad for clubs, who shared the YouTube highlights packages of their individual games on their Facebook and Twitter feeds – providing something for their followers to share out, comment on, like and view. The videos from last season all get into viewcounts that far exceed the attendances of matches.

It’s bad for players too, who had used the highlights to create their own showreels of their skills and talents, the better to impress scouts in the quest for overseas deals. Here’s Stephen Hoyle’s goals, Zac Speedy’s saves.

It’s bad for those of us who desperately want to promote the game on Twitter, who spend our time making gifs of great moments, goals and, er, not so great moments – pushing out the word that New Zealand has a football championship and it can be bloody good fun to watch.

This is an oggie. The NZF CEO is accountable to the stakeholders of the game. What is his on the record comment on the matter?

They have really closed down down the #handy for only those that can afford it. It was better when they had the highlights of each game and put it on YouTube. The sponsors get less exposure, players get less exposure, our league gets even less exposure. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot NZF.

So, us HBU fans are out of luck this week ? Our game finished 0:0 , therefore nothing to show on TV ?

Does that mean sky will suck money out of HBU even though nothing will be shown ? Would be interesting to view the contract between the NZ football and sky.

no as it was played on Monday. the highlights will be included in next weeks program, its just if you don't have sky that you'll be out of luck

I think the point was Sky's highlights are goals only so no goals = no highlights

Sorry, in my piece I say 'just the goals'. That's because NZ Football has license for 2 mins of footage a week. That doesn't strictly mean just the goals, but you've got to assume given this weeks offering that that is what's going to be the focus

Round 2 highlights.

Don't see the HBU v WeeNix game there as it was a 0 - 0

No red card for Hamilton either. Or the two red cards at Waitak v City.

The camera angles for the City goals as well, sheesh.
