Tech 6 v 0 YDS
University 3 v 3 Green Island
Roslyn 2 v 0 Queenstown
Grants Braes 0 v 4 Mosgiel
Northern 0 v 1 Southland

Technical should be too strong for the Youth team, 4-5 up at half time, burgie hatty

Both teams have probably the best keepers in the comp but the same can't be said about their respective defences although Liam Mackinlay is a class act for the students.

Still a little unsure what Queenstown will throw up this season, but based on a pre season loss to Southland, would have to back Roslyn, Poty Brando to grab a brace of goals & yellows

Mosgiel looked alright in the pre season games i saw, they're an interesting team with an unorthodox mixture of youngsters & geriactics, McGarry is still class & with Morgan Day will lay on the goals for a  Regan Coldicott hatty, the evergreen Phil Kelly to beat everyone on the park (including his own players) and slot a spectacular that only Phil can score.
What can i say about Braes, no much really but the hills do have eyes!

Barry Gardiner penalty to settle this boring encounter against the barcodes

I agree with Terry Boylan. I think that picking the scores in the first round is near on impossible, however.........

  • Tech could make double figures but could equally win by only 2 or 3 in a canter. Tech 8-0.
  • Green Island and Universtiy might not produce too many goals.  Both teams have good keepers and stoppers at the back but neither team has any proven class. Students by a scrappy goal or two. Uni 2-0.
  • Roslyn and Queenstown is an absolute lottery but Roslyn must be clear favourites. Roslyn 3-1.
  • Mosgiel should be far to strong for Braes but could do with a calming influence in attack to make sure that they get their noses in front early. Mosgiel 3-0.

So let's get this straight, Sam Jasper is playing for Queenstown and not Dunedin Tech???
Is he also playing for Otago Utd this year?
Is he still scoring goals??
Last time I saw him was at North Shore...

Never mind the bollocks.... this comp is easy to pick..

Like every season top three will be made up of Cavvie, Tech and Roslyn.
Bit like the EPL..

At least we are taking an interest and have a large contingent online

Come on Dino I think you can go even better then that can't you - everyone is too scared to identify a winner and going by what Dino has just said "Like every season top three will be made up of.."you would be mad not to pick Cavvie...right?

Like every season the winner will be Caversham - there can't be any doubt going on past form.

I heard that the committee held an emergency meeting on thrusday with a focus on cost cutting due to the current recession. The committee decided Fleming's weekly visits to get his tips peroxided was putting a huge burden on the club's finances & have decided to let him go.

In spite of this sad news, the committee acted quickly to secure a long term deal for Tony "champagne" Martin. Details of the contract remain a bit sketchy at the moment but the deal would see Martin collecting a whopping 7 new pairs of New Balance retro trainers along with a jug of Pims after each game.

The shoe addict responded to the news with a modest: "F@#king aye"

Geez thanks...

Didn't get to a game this week, was  a hot day in the south... at least in the double figures. Masters football has called for another season.

The others are closer.. Truth usually has some truth, feedback is optimistic as we all are.

And the finishing results will be Cavvie, Tech and the Roslyn.. likely in that order... for Mr Horner

Bottom two will be Northern and Grants Braes.. Top poacher will be Burgess.. most cards probably Mosgiel..

Most clubs will be the coach of Northern..

You are almost correct Dino,Cavvy will win the league and SI final,GB will not many games at all finishing last,Tom Jackson will be golden boot with 17 goals followed by burgess 2nd with 15 rickerby will be last with 3 after either a season ending back injury or being admitted to AA after a crazy night in Craft bar,Tim Horner and Andrew Coburn will share Otago player of the year with of course another Rosyln player,A dunedin team will again make the Chatum cup final,Micheal abbot will get sent off at least twice,I look foward to being wrong again

Also i hear Rosco may have dislocated his shoulder please for the league's credibility tell me this isnt true??

I am afraid to say that it looked like Mckenzie did dislocate his shoulder on Saturday.  I would say based on the way he walked off carrying his shoulder he will be out for a few weeks at least.
Tech looked good given they are still waiting on Andrew Coburn.

Sounds like the head coach Fridge has had a clean out with Malcolm Fleming and Paul Cameron both moving on?

Roy, whether you believe this or not it is a pretty poor attitude. The league may end up being a three horse race but it wouldn't be a league without the 7/8 other teams.  The players train hard, put in a big effort on the Saturday and you slag them because they choose to play at GI or GB's.

We need to get to a stage where we have a 8 team league for both SPL and fletcher cup , who would your teams be , ideally I would like Fletcher Cup to mirror the teams in the SPL , with maybe the Milk Cup being the exception in Fletcher Cup not SPL

Any Thought Anyone ???

No offence taken perry, I thought everyone is entilted to their own opinion, isn't that the point of a forum? I agree Roy an 8 team league with two full rounds would be the way to go, scrap the soccersouth knock-out cup at the end of the season its a bit of a waste of time as it proved to be last year
