Word at tech is that Burgess is hanging up his boots after this season as he wants to spend more time with his wife and new child. Can anyone confirm this?

Predictions for the weekend?

Tech 5-1 over braes
Cavy to be upset by uni 2-1, finally ending any hopes of a successful season
Spirit 2-0 G.I
Roslyn to sneak a late winner over Northern
Mosgiel 4-0 Qtown

So Tech only need to beat Braes, Northern, Onions and Spirit to win the league? Should be a formaility?

It looked like a formality.

Tech now need to beat Norzen, Onions, the Swede Eaters and either Cavvy or Roslyn.

Still easily favourites but its not over just yet, and of course Cavvy and Roslyn have to keep winning to stay in touch.

Any sign of arrests in the great Gardens pitch dig?

I heard the nylon genius Steve Brook was in the frame for questioning, and that he requested a ground change earlier that day....

Apparently council has decided Caley is only good for one game a week and FS had scheduled double headers for the next 4 weeks.

Rumour has it Terry Phelan is coming back to play/assistant coach for Otago United this year. He doesn't like it overseas and thinks he is still up to competing with NZ best.
Firstly I can't see him being an assistant coach, that's trouble waiting to happen if you ask me and they must have given him a bit of money for him to play, I thought OU didn't have any money to go around and surely they would be better off spending it on trying to keep the good young players of the SPL here.

Michael/Dusty Rhodes. I can assure you. It is just that rumour. Terry is under contract over in India. He also if anything wouldnt be involved with OU after the way he was treated last time. He would go sometimes upto 3 months without being paid. I also believe he wasnt the only one of the staff that it happened too.
I believe that they owe something in the vicinity of 100K. That is apparently including player reimbursements and also payment of M Flemings wages. They still havent appointed a Coach and im sure if i was one of the ChCh players or for that matter a current OU player. I would certasinly have doubts about playing for them in the coming season. The writing is on the wall. They will be Goners !!!.

Word at Caversham is that they may have to pull out of their Chatham Cup quarter final due to funding issues in getting up to Auckland.

Predictions this weekend:

Tech to bounce back over Northern
Mosgiel may struggle on the artificial turf down south, but should pull through
Cavy too good for Queenstown, should be 5+
Roslyn to end GI's good run of form
Grant's Braes may pick up another point against uni

Upsets this week look unlikely

Rumour has it that I think house of travel put otago utd on stop credit when i was playing for them with Moses and Jesus, seems that they still havent changed  What is going on with the board and where is all the money going or gone, the last otago utd agm that i went to years ago there accountant stated that he could not account for all the money as (his words) I cant count all the nuts and bolts (glad he's noty doing my books).
Can we get some people who can run it at a profit and get of there arse and get sponsorship!!!!!

as my team were out of town I had a chance to have a look at Tech & roslyn.

Have to say Tech had a fairly easy game, i think Northern would take 5-0, tech could've scored another 5-8 to be honest, 12-0 would've been a true reflection, when i was there Northen didn't even really have a decent shot on target?

The Roslyn Green Island game was better in terms of excitement, Roslyn were bloody lucky to escape with a win in the end, didn't deserve it but slotted a great pen in the last couple of minutes so credit to them, as the braes showed last week, the bottom teams can maybe cause an upset so look out the top four....

cup games next week, hopefully two Dunedin teams can make the semis, don't think its happened before? i think regardless of who you support lets get behind Caversham & Dunedin Tech & make it happen, all those ex uni students in Auckland on the saturday & everyone in Dunners next Sunday get behind the dunnos teams!

I think the question with this squad is will they be there at all our will be be a six team league. The clock is starting to run down rapidly for both Otago and Waikato United.
