Sorry to break the news about OU squad Crixus but none of those players will be playing for them this year. There was a special board meeting last week and OU have had their licence taken away due to the financial problems they are in. It's a shame for the town, I wonder how it will ever get started again and who will put the money up. I'm not sure whose fault it is that they are in this mess but from what I heard at the meeting there are a lot of problems, to many to solve

FootballSouth board have to take it on the chin if that is the case.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Big game for Mosgiel this weekend against GI, a win will see them up to second on the table, then big games against Cavy & Roslyn

Dusty, if that is true. Then it is a great shame. We need a presence down here in the NZFC. I dont think Footballsouth would be interested. I also dont think that anybody would be either. I suppose that they could start another entity like the Basketball did in Otago when they went bust.A great shame though.

Otago Utd is going ahead this season, yes they do have major money troubles  but there should be a new sponsor comming on board , the only thing is that we have to change from blue to "GREEN"

Surely they won't resign Malcolm "will coach anywhere for cash" Fleming again? There's better out there. Take his brother Steve for example. His track record is untouchable. Even Mike McGarry or Mike Fridge. Malcolm coaches Green Island for christ's sake...

common, they would've played two extra games, can't see Mosgiel beating Caversham but Roslyn could drop some points

Steve would be everyones pick, if there isn't a team this year, will young players like Day & Prattley stick around?

Steve would is everyones pick as coach, but wont for his own personal reasons. Malc "will coach anywhere for cash" is just like any other coach that will go anywhere to coach just like the EPL, and green island is not a bad team just need some older heads in the team, maybe some senior OU players could move there and pass on there knowledge?????

There will be no players leaving town

why are most people on here against Malcy? he wasn't first team coach at Cavvy when Mosgiel came calling likewise when GI did, he was assistant to Fridge right?

He's done a decent job with Otago with limited resources when not many others put their hand up to coach the team.

Good on him i say

Well said fixer, anytime Otago don't finish last they are punching above their wait and last 2 years Otago have been well in the playoff hunt. Never got close under Phelan.

Tech vs Bay Olympic, what a game. Never seen conditions like that before in a game. Both teams battled away. Tech showed a lot of heart. The ground was snowed over, and at times you couldnt see the ball from the stand. Tech defended very well. 100% got my money worth WOWwee

p.s well done to Cavvy 4 - 0 win over Onehunga

Great result for Caversham, praying its Napier down here for the semi.

Had a look at the Tech game, a very good battle played in extreme conditions, Bay were very good but Tech to their credit battled away but just couldn't hold on.

I thought the ref was pretty average (for both teams) tech can feel a little unlucky with Bay's pen, was never a pen!

Agree with u bout the refing and the pen. altho big matty joy did get away with a big chop down in the first half and burgy looked fairly offside for his first. thought tech keeper played well until penalties rolled around. shuda saved the first 3 probabley

Agree joy did get away with one in 1st half but the pen that was given was terrible

Yeah free kick was special, he's an impressive player burgy. Jackson 2 Fleming 1 Hancock 1

What's the latest on Otago United?

Players will be All White for Olympic qualifiers

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10737548/

"NZF plan to hold a camp in Taupo next month when two north-south games will also be played. They will ask for regions to nominate players to ensure players they don't currently know much about aren't missed. They are also undertaking another worldwide fishing expedition to see if they can catch New Zealand-eligible players they don't presently know about."

Do we have any players involved in above?

Caversham seem to be in a spot of bother with there up coming trip to Napier, they had to borrow money to send them to Auckland and now will cost them even more going to Napier. Any way best of luck to them and hope they finally make the final.
Must be off like a robbers dog

STOP PRESS Caversham to have fundraising night to pay expenses for napier trip. Asking all clubs to put differences aside and support otago's number 1 club

I would have been prepared to help out if you had of said Otago's only team to make the semis but with an arrogant comment like "Otagos number 1 club" you just lost my support.

just get along to support cavvy, they're the only otago team left in the comp, don't we won't an otago team to win it? you guys must be all the roslyn idiots, bunch of arrogant prima donnas aajay, michael cunningham & cameron fraser i bet

cavvy been raiding the coffers for years with unsustainable imports, and not caring about any team at the club bar the first team. this said they have built a superb first team over the years. Good luck to cavvy I think they will win the semi, they have been the best team in dunedin for a decade, but only have the one chatham cup semi final (2006 from memory) to show for i. Would be great for them and dunedin football to go on and win it. That said when tech longball merchants made the final in 2008 I dont think anyone in dunedin wanted them to win it apart from their own supporters

Not sure how you can justify "unsustainable" Horsehead - I think you're reading a little too much into the poor chat the likes of Crixus etc are stating about fundraising etc. Caversham have done their best to introduce some quality into this league over the years however unfortunately not many other clubs have taken the lead.

Oh and 2006, 2007, 2010 and now 2011.

sorry too right there kennedy they have made a few more than i remembered. Well i think they deserve to go on and make a final, even though I think they have had far stronger sides than the one they have this year

Yeah the cunninghams and tht Cameron character r puppets ae. Not to mention the likes if Mather and foster. If only we wer all like our favorite otago united and cavy hero tim Horner who if I recall told Aajay Cunningham at the end of the Roslyn cavy game that if he was on the field for his tackle on Tom Jackson (which was at most a yellow) he would have broken his leg.
Yeah but ur right those Roslyn cu*ts r arrogant prima donnas.... t**ser!!
That being said I do want cavy 2 win cuz I've got mates in that team. But ur a Fu*ckin idiot pussy willow!!
