Sad to see Southern United struggling so badly.
Looked back over the past two seasons and their playing record in the last 23 matches shows just two wins, a draw, and 20 defeats.
I'm not sure how that compares with YoungHeart Manawatu during their worst run but it must be rivalling it closely.
The current squad has a number of players with plenty of ASB Premiership experience but there seems to be a lack of cohesion.
If Tristant Prattley played today it would've been his 100th ASB Premiership career appearance incorporating his time with Otago United and Waitakere United.
Did some digging, a YHM's last 23 games in the League had a record of 2-2-19 vs Sthns 2-1-20.
Suffice to say, if Southern had a another ASBP club 90 minutes south of them and another 2 hours north of them like Manawatu did, they could be in trouble.
Geographic spread is important though. The league realistically needs a Southern side in it. That's not an excuse for performance though, just a reason why they, somehow, need to get it right and quickly. How to fix that is beyond me.
