It was used for Chatham Cup Finals in 1926 then every one from 1928 to 1972 and again from 1980-82 and 1990-92

I never played on it but everyone I know that did always rave about how great the surface was

The only down side was in later years when they reverted to 1 pitch and sitting in the stand you were a fair distance from the ground
