Yes, the imports should get a lot of credit for improving the development of youth / kids football all across the region. They also definitely improve the quality of the Southern team. 

If they can also help to improve the quality of the Southern league / South Island league (playing/coaching/etc), in order to help players step up to the Southern team, then few could have issues with their contribution down here.
