Had more spectators than that for Sunday League games at Nunweek Park and at Bexley Park in Chch.
Ask the national league ref assessor when he's down for your next game in Inv if you think i'm pulling it. He was a GK back then.

this guy?

Brian Tamaki?

Possibly, I'm impressed there is fresh air between the soles of his boots and the ground.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Poor form those pictures. T Horner is obviously not involved and I would suggest taking the posts down before they're taken down for you.

Getting back to reality, did anyon got to the meeting Tuesday night?

There is plenty of passion here, but is anyone willing to put their hand up to make difference?

Those highlights of the wellington game are a good watch. Some goal from henrique! But the otago defending was shocking, time after time the back four either dived in or were turned, agree could and should have been 8. Pottrich had a stormer in goal.

While obviously he has deficiencies when attacking without ball at feet, that is one hell of a strike.

First goal (SU) – great control and finish from Henrique, will be tough to see a better goal in a National League game this summer.

Second goal (TW) – poor judging by Overmire and Joy with the ball over the top, allowing striker to fiddle around with it and turn. Overmire should have stuck with man, rather than jumping in an out. The next sequence of defending from Higgins is so poor, gives Fa'arodo far too much space and easily touches it to the side and hits across Potrich. At this level that is not good enough at all.

Third goal (TW) – Joy steps up to track Fa'arodo and Charlie Henry runs by Overmire and Joy for an easy finish. Once again Overmire should have tracked the run of Henry or Joy should have stayed in position and passed Fa'arodo onto midfielder, even Higgins could have come inside to cover. Either way poor defending from SU.

Fourth goal (TW) – Cambell Attwood loses Fa'arodo on near post and after a couple lucky deflections hammers the ball home. Poor marking from Attwood, and to be giving away a short corner at that stage of the game is amateur. Potrich made some great saves might I add from the footage, which was good to see.

A lot more goals could have been conceded too and Coldicott missed a great chance early on with his first touch letting him down. In all seriousness I can count five players on that field for SU pitch who are not up to National League standard. Conceding goals like I mentioned above shows just how poor this SU team. Luiz has made some selections that are beyond belief but I wish all the best for the team against WaiBop this weekend.

Does anyone have footage from the Canterbury game last week?

DM that's a top drawer analysis - it was an really great goal from the Brazilian lad yes sir.  But sad to say the defending is, indeed as you say, just atrocious.  Higgins really is a donkey with no idea at all, Overmire doesn't track ever, and even Mr reliable Matt Joy looks well out of form.  Partly because he's surrounded by rubbish and is trying to cover them all, but he looks unfit also.  I actually thought Atwood did some decent covering compared with the others and he's not really a defender is he? Poor kid - I'd have him in the bench and then coming on in the centre of midfield or as a defensive mid with 20 to go - let him get some experience instead of throwing him in there making a fool of himself.  It's a new name for a new team, but it's really just Pub Team Utd in disguise.  All the best for the weekend yes indeed.  Please get a result of some sort and keep us out of the records books for being the most shite team ever.  And where the fook is Sam Mepham?  Bloody nora he should be the captain of this side and he's not even on the bench.

Nat, Matt Joy is not out of form but has an increased work load at the back with no Jude etc etc, the coach has some serious problems with his line up. I still can't believe Sam isn't starting in mid field, Whats with the coach saying recently that he has a five year plan and it doesn't matter about not winning, what sort of message is that. My bet is the coach will be gone before round 2 starts.

Hope you understand any criticism of big MJ is not personal.  I just observed he was struggling in that video.  We both understand why and you articulated it well.  He's a really solid and true Otago CB in the traditions of old.  And by all accounts he played a blinder yesterday and I was thrilled to hear he got his debut national league goal.  It very much pains me to hear this BS 5 year plan thing and not caring about winning - I've heard this from several sources and it has to go.  My question is this: in 5-years the plan is what? Win the league?  Cos that's never gonna happen is it?  The BEST we can consistently do I think is top six and pushing for 4th.  And then by some miracle making the OCL every few years. Let's get real.  We can do this with the BEST local players we have (plus 2-3 imports a year), the BEST coach we have (anyone with the surname Fleming basically, or a Fleming by-product) and a board who aren't in fairyland (i.e., sack the current mob - all of them).   We have a bit of a break now before we play the u-20s, who are all u-18 at the moment.  I pick a 2-1 loss. I HOPE for a win I really do, but I can't see where it will come from without Mepham at the helm and Connor Fitz and Ferg back there with Matty.

No need to sack the board 4 of them stepping down. A chance for some fresh blood and some new ideas perhaps

One can only surmise they disagree with the cunning plan of the current coach?

I get a bit sick of the criticism the board gets, they are unpaid volunteers doing their best and to be most the punters on have no idea how much work is needed just keep an organisation like Southern Utd going.

Totally agree. The board is a group of volunteers that spend hours of their own time and money keeping the franchise afloat

It's easy to criticise from the outside but I don't see a lot of people putting their hands up. It's the same as at club level, you have one or two people in each club doing everything and the others just moan and groan

Let's be realistic, the ASB is a hugely expensive league to play in. You need. $65k just to enter the league , so overall you need$200k plus . Where does that money come from? It's the board that goes out and gets in so leave them alone

Hombre I don't theenk peepuls are geeving them a bad time beekhorse they lack endeevor.  At thee end of thee day eets about reesults hombre and they av to go beekhorse thee reesults are oreeble and eets putting football in the reejon een jerpoddy.  So thee four that are going are to be applauded - weel done pheel and company for hall your eefforts.  Now pleese appoint some peepuls who av thee testeekles to sort theese coach out.

Valid points Amigo, my guess is though they will sturgle to find 4 people to volunteer, let only have a choice of candidates.

I can't see the coach going either, you would imagine that everyone was aware that there is a long term plan, so to give him the chop after half a season would be crazy. The other issue is who would you replace him with anyway? According most on here who want him out he was 4th or 5th choice.

Here is a summary of ASB incime from the Wishes for the new ASB season thread

I'm not saying everything the board do is brilliant but given those figures, along with the fact that many top players in the region prefer winter football over National league we are always going to struggle.

I hope that some quality enthusiastic people join the board and make a positive difference, but then again a I hope for a lot of things...

So they aren't accountable then because they are volunteers?
