2022: University AFC from Dunedin denied entry to the Southern League by NZF due to not having a B licensed coach.

2023: Dunedin City Royals play the whole season without a B licensed coach on their bench. Apparently they have even falsified their team cards to try and hide it. Women's coach is listed in Comet as on the men's bench on multiple occasions this season when he was in another city coaching the women's team.

Seemingly no action taken from NZF.

FC Twenty going to be relegated. Fair based on performance, but when another club has broken the rules and actively tried to cover it up it raises questions about the integrity of the competition.

Action likely to have been taken as per the regs for the league, which is a monetary 'fine'.

should be a loss of 2 points per game per time it happened.

You have to wonder who the Dunedin City Royals have in their back pocket at NZF.
Several clubs around the country have had points docked or even been thrown out of competitions for fielding ineligible players in recent years. Often honest administration mistakes.
These guys have actively tried to deceive, putting a coach who's not at the games on their team cards nearly every game this season. The penalty for that is a fine? NZF need to release a statement clearing up what has taken place here.

Green Island have decided not to enter the National League / Southern League in 2024. As the competition is administered by NZ Football under the league regs they determine the final 'make-up' of the 10 teams. Understand for various reasons it is unlikely that the tenth team will be Roslyn Wakari or FC Nelson.

Then what? FCTwenty11 get a reprieve?

Assuming that Green Island are making this call for financial reasons, this raises serious questions about the viability of the Southern League and thus the whole current National League set-up.

dramatic much? They could have lost a sponsor or lost some grant funding - there are so many variables.

I don't think it's dramatic to note that it is a Dunedin club in particular facing these problems. If a Dunedin club is replaced with a Christchurch club - i.e. if the most obvious Dunedin and Nelson replacements are not being considered - then certainly the whole idea of a South Island League is in the balance, and therefore the whole current National League setup.

Do the two Dunedin sides bus or fly to away games? For them it would be 7 trips to Christchurch and 1 trip to Nelson.

From what I understand clubs in both Dunedin and Nelson were considered but clubs felt they were unlikely to meet the licencing requirements to play in the National League.
