Told Coastal Spirit have picked up some key players from their neighbouring clubs in an effort to improve on last year's 3rd place. One bloke in from the third tier of American footy as well.
Christchurch United have signed German professional footballer Michael Hornsby, who plays as a defender for Richmond Kickers in USL League One (Div 3 USA) Also played for SC Freiburg in his youth.
Yup - I'd heard Stearn was on his way out of United but didn't expect him to drop the Storer tidbit. A couple of others that didn't quite make it to the article: Matt Bergin from FC Twenty, Weston Bell from Green Island and an American named Alex Steinwesche who went to college with Stearn have all joined. Aashish Rai has gone to Australia and Roque Fuentes is off to Universities.
Sounds like Ryan Stanley likely to be donning the boots again, but likely to be at Coastal, along with Danny Boys and Alex Meaclem, both ex Bays and was talking to a contact down south and if they are correct then Brazilian mid fielder, Daniel Brem who played for Wanaka last season is also heading for Coastal.
Hence my early comment that the SL is not going to be a two team race this season. Will be great if three or four teams are still chasing a National League Championship spot going into the final third of the SL.
I see Waimak defeated FC Twenty11 in a preseason game on Saturday and UC came out on top against Nomads.

Your source is good - Brem is going to be at Coastal. Same with Stanley and Macleam. Haven't heard anything about Boys. Depending on the respective states of Tech and United could very well be a good SL season.
Christchurch take the preseason friendly 5-1, 2 from Joel Steven’s 1 from Matt Brazier (subbed at half time), 1 from Jackson Cole and the other from their number 10, not sure of his name but he was unreal, might be one to look out for
As for selwyn just quite a poor attempt at trying to play out from the back, they’ll be glad it’s only preseason as it looks like they have a bit of work to do if they want to be clear of that drop zone they’ve been flirting with for a couple years

Their number 10 is David Yoo, Class player. Last played in Portugal. Heard Mirmar Rangers wanted him aswell
I will stick with Danny Boys signing on at Coastal but he will be contesting the Ironman at Taupo on March 2nd. NZKnowledge

Will be interesting to observe the impact of the latest Russian sanctions on United's cash flow and timely remuneration of 'expenses'
I see they've made United and Tech play each other in the last round again. Played in Rd17 in 2022, Rd18 last year and Rd18 again this year. Hoping for a closer table than last season to generate some excitement.
