So much for a random draw then!
The draw will be random and then they mix the rounds to suit the league.
Happens in professional leagues all the time 🤷♂️

lthomas20 Only caught the last 30mins of the game but heard someone say it was 7-0 to Tech at fulltime

7-0 Tech won
Also Think Niko Bruce (North Wellington & Western Suburbs & NZ u17 International) and James Brittain from Cashmere Technical have also signed for Christchurch United
Christchurch United beat Coastal Spirit 2-1
Trevin Myers ex Green Island is on Nelson Suburbs playing rooster.
So Green Island are not in the Southern League this season. Can someone in know explain how this works/worked?
They finished 3rd to bottom last season, with Selwyn United FC and FC Twenty 11 below them.
Were there playoffs? Or Did they withdraw?
I know Universities AFC won the Mainland Premier League.

Green Island decided not to enter the Southern League this season.
Unversities earnt the right to seek entry into the Southern League after winning the play-off series. They defeated FC Nelson (the winner of the Nelson Bays Premier League) home and away and then defeated Roslyn Wakari (winner of the Southern Football League).
FC Twenty11 will retain a place in the SL for the coming season.

Christchurch United have three more pre-season games planned other than those already announced - don't know the dates but:
vs Nomads (midweek)
vs Nelson Suburbs
vs Cash Tech (last weekend before season opener)
Still deciding whether to put another game against Coastal in there in midweek too, fatigue is a factor.

Nomads heading to Timaru to face DC Royals tomorrow and also on Saturday Cashmere Technical take on FC Twenty11 at Avonhead Park at 2:30pm.
I see Waimak are hosting Selwyn at Midday today (Saturday) at Kendal Park.
Believe that Kaleb de Groot-Green, ex DC Royals has signed on at ChCh United.
Riley Grover back at Christchurch Utd
I see they've made United and Tech play each other in the last round again. Played in Rd17 in 2022, Rd18 last year and Rd18 again this year. Hoping for a closer table than last season to generate some excitement.

Ferrymead took on Uni this morning. Unsure of the result
Sounds like Nomads edged DC Royals 2 - 1 in Timaru.

Christchurch United went down 3 - 0 to Wellington Olympic in the NZ Football Charity Cup this afternoon, with United's Matthew Brazier receiving a straight red just before normal time was up, likely to be for Violent Conduct so assume any sanctions applied (likely to be a minimum of 2 games) will be served in the SL.
ChCh United Line Up In Charity Cup was:
Steven Van Dijl (GK), Michael Hornsby, Kaleb de Groot-Green, Riley Grover, Ta Eh Doe (70) - Zac Bennett, Matthew Brazier, Eric Imachi Sugarhara (76) - Waisea Henry, David Yoo (46) - Jackson Cole, Joel Stevens (C), Joel Peterson (61) - Rico Pradhan, Daniel Meyn (70) - Thomas Chao

Coastal Spirit vs FC Twenty this Saturday, 10am KO at Linfield Park
What was the final score waimak vs Selwyn. I left at 1-0 to waimak. Very scratchy preseason performance from both teams up till then
Finished 2-1 to Selwyn. Very hot on the turf. 29⁰ was what my car said, so add on a few for the turf effect.
Scrappy game at times, but good to get minutes in legs in those conditions.
Kudos on the sharkhousery from Waimak leaving the aircon remote for the away changing rooms hidden, so it was a raging sauna in there 🤣

Anyone know friendly result of Cashmere v FC2011?

The draw is out and on Mainland's website here. Exciting!
A few years back we did a pick the score comp which was a bit of fun. If you wanna play again I'm keen to organise, give this post a like and we can see if we can get enough people.

Seems to have been a lot of news on the top three sides - anyone heard much from the rest?
I think FC Twenty have picked up midfielder James Hoole who captained Cash Tech's reserves last year.
A couple of games this Saturday as well:
Coastal Spirit vs FC Twenty, 10am Linfield Park
Selwyn United vs Christchurch United, 2:45pm Foster Park

Nomads have gained Cooper Goldsmith from Coastal but have seen Jacob Killick move to Universities, with twin brothers Nikolas and William Fairley now at Bays.

Universities of Canterbury have signed Liam Pledger from Coastal with other former Coastal / ChCh United player (do not think he played last season), Luke Pennington now at UC.
UC top scorer from last season, Charlie Peacocke is now at Bays

Wow. Those twins have been through the clubs, whose left and how long will their antics be put up with this time. How long at one club is their longest stint. Good luck ferrymead with all that baggageAllWhites82

Coastal are up 2-0 at Half Time against FC2011
ChCh United defeated Selwyn 2 - 1, and believe United will play Nomads on Tuesday evening.
Looks like Phoenix Coursey has moved from Cashmere Technical after not being able to crack into the first team and is now playing for Selwyn First Team
Coastal beat FC Twenty 8-0 today as well
Any result Bays-Nomads?
DCR beat Mosgiel 3-0
