Many a true word spoken in jest FU BLU.

An expenditure cap would certainly contribute to a more competitive league, which would probably regenerate at least some interest outside of Auckland. It would also contribute to the overall sustainability of the league.

Seems to me the only losers would be players currently being paid to play in what is supposedly an amateur league (a number of them imports) and the Auckland teams who have traditionally dominated the league.

So the choice for ACFC is clear. Do you want to continue to dominate a league that the rest of the country doesn't really care about? Or are you prepared to give up some of that dominance in order to help create a more relevant competition? (and a by product for ACFC in particular would be that your heavy reliance on a single income stream would be lessened, reducing your risks and contributing to your club's sustainability).
