I think last years Nix youth experiment was a fail - as early form showed.

The ASBP needs a competitive Team Wellington so please don't let it just be Miramar (all due respect) and Phoenix Youth. TW, Canterbury and HBU are the only teams who can realistically give ACFC and WU a decent domestic challenge.

If the ASBP NEEDS challengers outside of the main 2 (which I agree with) then maybe chuck some more of that money everyone else's way. It'd be for the good of the competition after all right?

Socialism rampant. Not a normal footballing scenario.

Gossip in Chch is that Canty United striker Ash Wellborn is on the move to the Windy City.

Can anyone shed some light on if there will be any room for players other than Nix youth and Miramar in TW. Will they even have trials?

If it is closed shop as being bantered, then we have quite a few players who miss out.

Maybe the extra team shouldn't be in Auckland. Lets face it, with out a Manawatu team (not they were much) we have a big area of the country to draw from. A lot of talent could just walk away, unless they are prepared to move, which only puts more pressure on the other areas, Makes for a strong competition I guess. But not much for development.

True scouting has taken place based on players not club. And is on going.  I saw a lot of players at early TW preseason last year who did not feature.

Definitions of trials change as the appeasement  of parents drops away from the game.

So far off the mark! But you provided me with my entertainment for the day!

Find it interesting that this is yours and Top Lefts first port of call.  There are other areas/ clubs who have the facilities, as far as I’m aware there is nowhere in the Hutt area that could even provide a suitable non artificial turf ground. Presuming that a sand base turf would be preferred.

As I said Team Miramar appears to be a closed shop. Great if this proves to be wrong.

Hard on players who are good enough, but there are no other options for them. Simply stating there should be room for another ASB team in the Lower North Island. A lot of players moving into the area.

Maybe this suggestion touched a chord tho, if you are in the Team Miramar camp!

From what I heard they had a so called 'trial' at TeWhaea last year!. Great if scouting is in fact taking place.....

What if the Miramar players are the best players?  I don't see how it is a closed shop. Most of the TW players went to Miramar after the season so it didn't have any effect on their selection

Mate all I was saying was I would support the idea of a team based in the Hutt. Based on population it would be logical, and Wellington city is quite small geographically. It could also become a good derby/rivalry with TW. All in theory of course.

I have no ties to Miramar so I'm certainly not in their camp. In saying that they took on TW when no one else would so good on them. Back when it was meant to be a Wellington-wide franchise most other clubs simply didn't come to the party.

If there was another team it would allow TW to accomodate the Phoenix FSE players and the other team could snap up the rest of the quality players in the region. No doubt politics would be an issue with a new side too though.

Fuck this stupid game

Hutt Throb is an old gag about a 2nd A-League club in Wellington and a throwaway line.  It shouldn't be taken as a serious bidder for an ASB Premiership spot.

Wairarapa is close to the Hutt - Maybe Upper Hutt based team, if the current proponent does not take flight after latest dealings with NZF.  TW is not a closed shop. Time will show that plain and simple.
But let me know if you are available to run the BBQ, man(lady) the gate, supply security services, organise the ball recovery team, set up the other game day activities or will you simply turn up and watch.

No takers for jobs yet. Many hands make light work. Just ask Gilly, power bill must have been out of control last season.

Any way no gossip this week from me.

Exactly this, so if Andrew Stefano or anyone wants to sign up expect to see them in black and blue next winter...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

It was Miramar + Nix Kids last year and was pretty competitive (once they got that balance right...).

ACFC are "just" Central United so I don't really see the difference...

Did Biss not play TW last year and choose which Winter Club. And a keeper I saw today went to another winter club. Oh we'll true that was last year.  To much brown whine now, I will watch with interest.

The Upper Hutt guy played TW last year and went to upper Hutt. So why would it be any different this year if he is selected for TW again. Players have chooses IMO
