It was 2-2.  Zaan Janse got sent after scoring (I believe) both goals.  Didn't watch it though.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

That was indeed how Canterbury got their second goal, just before half-time. The ref also got it wrong - he gave an indirect free-kick instead of direct. Having to lay the ball off helped Canterbury though, so they won't have minded.

Match report? Well TW gave up an early lead. They were defending deep, but the Canterbury front line were fast. I don't remember much about the goal, but it was some nice interpassing to put someone through for a good finish. TW equalised totally against the run of play. The keeper got amazing distance from a goal-kick into the wind, the forward ran out to it, one touch lob looked destined to go over but dropped into the top corner. Total route one, but it was a classy finish. After that, TW looked the better team. They took the lead after Sam Blackburn skinned a defender or three, cut in along the deadball line and squared for someone to finish. Then the keeper howler gave the equaliser mentioned above, walking out of his box with the ball in his hands for a free-kick that wasn't (the linesman had flagged, but ref had waved play-on). Second half quite even, Canterbury possibly edged it but couldn't score. Karl Romijn hit the bar direct from a corner with the Canterbury keeper beaten. Then a red card was given for dissent against the linesman. I didn't hear what was said, but the TW forward knew he was going after he let the linesman have it for signalling goal kick when the player though it was a corner. Shame, had they won TW would have had a home semi.

By the way, should the keeper have had a red card? No. He did not deny an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, so why would he get a red?

red card for keeper handling the ball outside of the box isn't it denying a goal scoring oppurtinity or not????
and did you see what happened between coach and sent of player of team wellington or am i hearing exatrated things???

No obvious goalscoring opportunity - there were no forwards still there and the keeper already had possession of the ball i.e. he didn't claim possession of the ball via handball. He collected the ball well inside his own area and then calmly walked out if his area. Definitely not a red - not sure he even got a yellow. Don't forget that FIFA remind refs in the Q&A section of the Laws that a handball is not automatically a yellow unless it is blatant abuse and in these circumstances, it was an honest mistake - albeit a stupid one correctly penalised (well not exactly correctly given that the ref awarded an indirect free kick for some reason - something the ref specifically admitted post-match that he got wrong).

I have no idea what happened between the coach and the dismissed player. The offence took place right by the corner of the Newtown 2 where the changing rooms are, so the player went straight to changing rooms. If there was an incident, it would have taken place out of the public eye - well, my public eye anyway as we went down for the Senior match after the final whistle.

That's Auckland-Manukau, as opposed to Auckland City etc...

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

5-4 to Waitakere.  Waitakere report below:

WAITAKERE UNITED WIN NINE GOAL SEMI FINAL

Waitakere United and Team Wellington fought out a goal laden match in the National Youth League semi final at Douglas Field today with attacking endeavour winning over defensive frailties from both sides as Waitakere won through to the final in a 5-4 thriller.

In what has become typical of the Waitakere side throughout this competition they attacked and scored goals at will but frustrated the coaching staff by leading goals just as quickly, often immediately after scoring themselves.

That was illustrated clearly when the two sides shared six goals in the opening 23 minutes of the second half. Each time it was Team Wellington taking the lead but Waitakere kept at them and eventually scored two back to back to take a lead they never relinquished.

Waitakere held on in surprisingly quiet final 15 minutes after the initial goal fest in the first half of the second 45 minutes and will now play Canterbury United in the National Youth League final next weekend. Venue and time for that match is yet to be confirmed.

Waitakere United

Peter Norris 4th, Matt Wallace 52nd, 56th, Blair Konik 63rd, Jason McKeown 68th

Team Wellington

OG 3rd, Michael Pickering 32nd, Leighton Arraj 53rd, Sam Blackburn 59th
