HBHS have had there best results ever under Edmonson - 2nd at Nationals last year!
Ngaruawahia have a very young side, think most of the side are still school kids actually and they are the only serious contenders to 3 Kings in the Northern 1st Division and from what I have seen, they play the best football of pretty much any side I have seen this year and that includes the sides Ive seen play Wanderers and Melville in the Premier League.
Edmonson has produced a very young, skillful and slick passing side who I for one hope get promoted to the Premier League.
I also understand he coaches Claudelands Rovers in the Womens' Premier League and they also have a very young side and have also had their best ever results under him, finishing 3rd behind Lyn Avon and 3 Kings last season and being in the National Cup 1/4 finals this weekend.
By the stats he appears very successful so why does he get bagged all the time??
Under Dave a number of those players have progressed considerably! Margetts, Barlow, Carr have all made NZ teams and/or NZFC teams. How can you say they would have done it with or without him? In that case any coach is pointless or useless in your book.
Before Edmoson HBHS did not even qualify for National Secondary school tournament, his first year there 6th, second year 2nd and have I think again qualified this year for top 16?
As for the players at Ngarawahia, Margetts and Christianson were seen as reserve players at Wanderers last season but under Edmonson they have flourished into very good players!
As for super8 tournament i think they finished 3rd, only losing to Tauranga in the semi. They did actually beat Palmerston North, the eventual winners so not that bad?? How can he be held responsible for what players come through, is he not the 1st team coach? Or does he coach the junior teams as well?
Quality, But he has done wonders for Waikato even though he may have had some decent players there, he did well to scratch through and nearly make the playoffs after they had been getting bagged having an Amatuer outfit which probably made them play harder, but after last seasons efforts why not get another crack?
I agree lets give him another go because no other worthwhile coach (not even Fallon) worth their salt would really want to work for a club like Waikato that started at the Waikato Stadium with high expectations around it being the way forward with eventually it being based around Waikato players as seen as real stepping stone to an amautuer club run and promoting amautuers players played at Narra......way to go.....in relation to play offs beside Waitakere and Auckland the other 6 clubs are strapping after the 2 other places to make up the semi-final.

Sorry my mistake, I wrote that badly... I meant the team the season before Edmonson took over did not qualify for Nationals, we did not make top 16 and had to go to the 2nd tier tournament in the Sth Island. Many of those players then under Mr Ed qualified for top 16 and actually finished 6th the following year..
2nd last year under Edmonson IS STILL the best result at Nationals by HBHS and apparently any Waikato team?
So an update especially for FUTBOL - Edmondson's teams seemed to have performed well this weekend.......Boys High started with a 5-2 win, followed by a crucial 2-1 win by Ngaruawahia and the weekend ended a short while ago with a 10 nil cup quarter final win for his Claudelands ladies team.......... Must be awful coaching 3 teams at different levels and winning all 3......he must be so disappointed.
Nice move Waikato, already a good indication that the Auckland teams are under threat . . . .

Edmondson and Readings appointed to Ferns roles
August 3, 2009
AUCKLAND A promotion from within, and a switch from the New Zealand Football Championship are the notable features of the respective appointments of Tony Readings and Dave Edmondson to head coach roles of the Junior (U-20) and Young (U-17) Football Ferns.
Readings takes the U-20s head coaching reins after a three year apprenticeship as John Herdmans assistant coach and technical analyst for both the U-20 and senior womens sides.
