From what I've read it sounds like TW were unlucky not to score. Does anyone know what formation was played?

4-1 win over Wanderers SC. Good to see Hogg starting the game and also scoring.

Quote of the day (last week)

"One bad performance doesn't make us a bad team and we won't be hitting the panic button."

Waitakere United co-coach Brian Shelley

Four minutes to be added

90 plus three

Looking at the subjects, not hard to see why. Jake has his whole 'but I'm an AW now, I'm better than this' attitude going on but playing a lot worse.

I watched that game also on Sommet sport... Hawkes bay were dominated for 70 especially in the middle...

Mulligan for all the money he gets hardly touched the ball.

Waitakere are not great and I think there in a scrap for 4 th

yeah, it looks like that to me too.  some nice touches, but very little of the graft that i used to admire him for

they also look like a team that doesn't care

all this from viewing on tele though

hopefully the full canterbury v waitak game is posted on youtube because i'd like to see this

anyone see on twitter WUFC announced Allan Pearce and Maxsim Manko as new signings?  Strange that Maxim would walk out on WaiBOP in the middle of the campaign - WUFC must have offered a good deal!

That's stink. Sometimes you hope that footballers have more than money on their minds, and that Manko would show a bit of loytalty to one of the clubs who wanted him. Waitak have come running after realising what they've missed out on.

Yeah I understand why he made the decision, but when you've committed to the club who signed you (when Waitak weren't interested) it seems pretty poor form to switch mid season.

What is really, really strange is that Waibop didn't enforce a 28-day stand down - to discourage such moves - as the former Waikato FC did last summer with Adam Thomas when he switched to team Wellington mid-campaign.

Where's Brendon Coker when you need him! Good point Bruce, I may have to follow that one up. Maybe it dsidn't cross the new organistion's minds.

you mentioned earlier that he was initially only going to be around for a few games.  he may possibly have been on a game by game contract.  but i see your point nbomb

that's BS actually - it's rare-ish but it's out there.  Also Clubs have just as much responsibility in the current situation as players with things like open chequebooks and revolving door policys (not looking at anyone in particular).

Nah that was a faulty rumour - it was rumoured he was off overseas after four games - that was incorrect, apparently it was a very slim chance but there was nothing set in stone, he had signed on for the season.

I think in New Zealand, it is more prevalent that you would hope, aka with players going to whichever Northern League club will pay their bills - preferring to go to a Div Two team rather than a Prem side if they get incentives. Ideally, it wouldn't happen in the national league, but there's still significant imbalances as we well know.

it's def more prevalent than I would like - but it's easy for people to cast the no loyalty rock and think nothing more of it (looking at you Buffon), it's much harder (and much more useful) to discuss why players are loyal and what the issues are creating this lack of loyalty, which without trying to pick on anyone is particularly bad on the shore?

So it's easier to argue against loyalty and harder to defend it?

That sums it up.

er.. no - it's easy to just brush away the issue by saying there is no loyalty in the game any-more - like you did.
I guess by definition since I have typed more words on the side of defending players and their loyalty than the few you have condemning it then yeah your right - congrats on taking the easy road!

I could write a magnum opus on the lack of player loyalty in football. I have better things to do with my life though.

Doesnt the 28 day period start from when he informed the Club in writing of his desire to terminate his Contract?

Allan Pearce - was the physio for the kids. Must have gotten over NZFs organisational shit already to bail on that gig.

Adam Thomas - if he had half a brain he would have ditched Declan by now. He would actually be playing football..

Maxsim Manko - he is going to Waitakere to be a squad player. He will be nothing more. Not a smart move.

I've heard there are some unhappy players at Waitakere, which may explain the SU result.

Waitak looked a bit disjointed. Not the usual flowing performance we have seen in recent years.. Southern looked organised and worked very hard for their win.

I doubt there would be room for him unless Shelley plans to play a million midfielders (Butler, Coombes, JHM, Matthews, the Thai guy, Manko)
