Thanks Bruce (I think).   Like you I am also concerned where our future Club administrators will come from.

When I was with Capital Soccer I used to go to many Club AGMs.   My main concern was that the meetings looked like a rest home reunion - grey hair everywhere!   Since then, with Rugby League and Pony Club, and now back to football, nothing has changed and it is a concern.

As least at NCR, two new members on our Board actually have their own hair and it is dark coloured.   Phil and James are two of our younger members who want to be involved and hopefully their involvement will encourage others.

If this doesn't happen, I see Clubs just fading away as us older guys move on.

Don't piss off old people - the older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent

Hello. Not sure I agree with J Vader's rather terse dismissal of Peter Bult.

I hardly know Peter, but as a valedictory I would be quick to acknowledge his long service as a leading club administrator, who could point to a fair few successes and trophies over his time.

And as a fellow administrator of many years now, I have come to appreciate the work and effort that must go in to make stuff happen at club level.

But like Peter, I am getting pretty long in the tooth. (Okay, not as old as you, Graeme Sole, but you get the picture.)

My question is this: Who will comprise the next generation of leading club administrators? Many of us have views on who the next stars on the pitch will be, but who will be the emerging young administrators to keep leading clubs afloat?

Who are the rising admin stars around the country? Who is standing out from the (lack of the) croud? Who are the administrative young guns of the future?

Because I often wish I could go to the administrator tree and pick a few ripe ones for my committee. Only I can't.

I'm not attacking his service to the club or length of time - more his ability as an administrator. As you say, clubs need administrators and from your view, you can't exactly see the next lot arriving on the next train. That being said, administrators do make some mistakes and some administrators are better than others. In essence is it better to have an administrator that makes poor decisions or no administrator at all? Thats a tough question because one is as bad as the other but just because he is there for a long period of time (and we can debate whom drove the club in whatever capacity with Rex' involvement too) does not mean he is immune from criticism. Sometimes, you just got to get moved on and call it for how it is. Since Rex stepped away, Waitakere has not been the same and that's been under Peters sole leadership with muggins MacGowan putting his fingers in it.

Wayne Scurrah at the Warriors probably should have been moved along right after the Cleary decision because the decisions he made after that, were poor. That was the 1st decision in a string that were poor to the point where pretty much most people were sitting there watching it all unfold saying 'Ok Wayne, when is your last day?'.

Hi Jeff, who in your view are the good emerging club administrators in Auckland?

C'mon Bruce, I'v always liked your passionate contributions but your frustration has on this occasion got the better of you.

Ok. How long's a piece of string = who/what/where.

Some of our best clubs have fallen by the wayside. North Shore and Uni Mount to name a couple. Back in the day with Tobacco and then smoke free sponsorship an awful lot of average 'football players and administrators' did more than all right. Unfortunately we've now breed a self interest and f*ck all you that don't agree culture.

There's one or two of you Bruce but many Dejongs, Dewhursts, Seatters and McGowans etc.

Hi Jeff, who in your view are the good emerging club administrators in Auckland?

As I alluded to above, i agree with you that the next lot are exactly rolling in thick and fast which means pretty much all clubs get stuck with what they have had regardless of quality.

I won't profess to know many names but one that seems to be doing a good job is Tim Adams/Chopper at Ellersile.

The guy at Western Springs - Evans? - is really leading his club forward. Promotion to NRL Prem, huge increase in junior numbers, signing Emblen as head coach for seniors plus Zoro for junior development.... Not to mention the new turf, club rooms & facilities -

Hi Gordy, not sure how to respond your post.

I'm certainly not frustrated. I've had plenty of outlets to express myself in football and have now pretty much done my dash, from playing, admin, coaching, writing about the game, raising kids etc.

But I'm genuinely curious as to who is held in high regard among the next generation of administrators around the leading clubs.

It's a subjective business, but appreciate all views. The floor is open to discuss those administrative pieces of string, and the various lengths, just as we would any other aspect of the game.

Yeah even as the most ardent Auckland City fan I really hope Waitak do get rid of Shelley yesterday's capitulation (especially that 6 minute period in the first half where City went 3-0 up) was totally unacceptable.

U wot? Capitulation? Waitak were over-run in first 20. Not Shelley's fault. Nix's Burns & ACFC's Browne are the two top strikers in NZ atm IMO.

I admit surrender would have been a better term to use.

To the point at hand, have Waitakere ever surrendered like that under any other coach (lets leave Cains 1st year out)? Either Shelley goes, or he has to clear out the egos.

They are not a happy camp. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians

Rumour has it that Aaron Scott, Chad Coombes and Craig Wylie are all making the move up from Waibop, and Ryan Tinsley from the UK via Napier is also moving north

Waitak games being played at QBE stadium this year? Would make sense with the whispers of some games being televised.

Fuck this stupid game

I've heard that they are splitting between OFC headquarters at Ngahue and North Harbour with NFF putting pressure on them to stay in zone. Either way, Fred Taylor is history.

I saw a marketing plan at work (yes SKY) which has all the sports for October listed and it had one mysterious line saying ASB Premiership... read into that what you will.

I've heard this morning that they are trying to get at least 1 maybe 2 live games a week on TV. Presenting the proposal to the board this week to sign off on.

Seems a few others have heard it or variants of it as well so it would seem there is more than just smoke.
