Can anyone explain to me how Waitakere still had 11 on the field at the half hour mark yesterday?  How was the centre back not sent for scything a player down than standing over them and screaming the C word at the player.

He was already on a yellow and it was about his 4th foul inside 30 minutes.

Only the VAR from Auckland can explain the interpretation of that Law. ;-)    Will it make the highlights reel?

Anyone whose seen Carpenter in Northern League will not be surprised at his antics. Does that every Saturday for Glenfield in the winter,

Shelley finished 6th in 2015-16 only ahead of WeeNix and Southern in what probably was the worst season Waitakere has ever had specially considering the 5-0 and 5-1 losses against WaiBOP

They also finished 6th in the 2nd season of the "modern" era - 2005-06

I think he was in charge the entire first half of the season. But it's true what you say, Milicich replaced him that season

yes just checked - Shelley sacked after 3 games - Lost to Auckland City at home which I guess no surprise, then beat Southern away but was sacked after 5-1 loss to Hamilton at home.

The other 5-0 loss was against Hamilton you refer to Argie happened under the current coach around February time that season.

Not so sure that the coach is the issue at Waitakere.

Dawkins in charge = Waitak successful

Since then = not successful.

Wonder if ever Vuksich leaves Auckland City what happens.

In a "amateur" type league , leadership absolutely critical

Looking back when it was announced, it appears that Hamilton Wanderers, Eastern Suburbs and Tasman United where given two year licenses so are up at end of this season. I wonder if all clubs are up for renewal and if there will be a review?

This has since been superseded by last April's competitions review update, where NZF announced they would maintain the existing 10-team structure until 2020

"During this period, if a current national league participant fails to meet club licensing requirements, or voluntarily withdraws from the competition, New Zealand Football will seek a replacement to maintain both the 10-team competition structure and the league’s current geographic representation. Aspiring clubs wishing to enter the league will need to register their interest by May each year during the club licensing application process, meet the required club licensing criteria and standards and qualify through on-field performance by being the highest-placed aspiring club from the relevant regional league."

Thanks Andrew ! How can Waitakere  be meeting club licensing requirements when they owe coaches and players money from last season is what I would love NZF to answer .........

So when he took the job 3 games in 2 seasons ago he was unable to finish in the top 4 ? With better cattle should he have not been able to achieve top 4 that year ?

you really don't like him do you?

Waitakere have been knackered since Rex Dawkins stepped back

but even then Milicich got them to the semi's last season where they lost on pens to TW after that 6-6 game

The Journey Fan : )

No genuinely nothing against him as do not even know the guy !

Just think he has done a really poor job.

The last coach was sacked for much much less.

The Journey Fan - Agree ! Guess that is why he won at the employment tribunal - Clearly not performance which they stated was the reason.

I did meet Shelley previously and I posted it on here so hence why Im interested but seems his story adds up afterall.

From what I gather, he was basically a shark coach and was getting 5s-

6s at training. They kept losing, he got fired. Then he took them to court because in the process of getting fired (which never happens with ANY other team) he was not given a verbal warning, written warning etc as you would expect if you were in a formal employment situation. Basically means now you are not allowed to fire a coach for a run of results and have to go through the whole process and allow them to correct the performance.

Jeff from knowing one or two of the players during Shelley's time as a coach what you just stated is untrue - Unless the players have told me porkies : )

Also judge this on just football results - You say they kept loosing - During Shelley's time and Temples time together as coaches and Shelley as an individual coach they never finished outside of the top 4 so please give me some facts around they kept losing.

Again not personal against current coach but I believe was previously sacked twice by the club ? Is that true ? This time round he finished outside of the top 4 twice in 3 seasons although I agree he took over 3 games into his first season and was left with Shelley's squad - However Jeff you previously said that squad was better than the squad he assembled so why was he not able to achieve a top 4 place ?

I don't rate Temple either so...

Milicich I believe has been sacked once at the end of season 1 because the players did not like his style and they bought in Cain, whom was nice but was a train wreck in his 1st season. I think he chose to step away the second time but I am unsure on that. By the same token, if he has been sacked twice, why does the club keep going back to him....

Agree on a lot of that Jeff - There is so few coaching jobs at the so called top level in the game here in NZ that clubs like Waitakere know they can use, abuse and sack coaches and get away with it - There is no way if coaches had a choice they would choose to work at Waitakere under the current leadership and the fact NZF do not hold them accountable just makes things worse.

Who hires a coach they have sacked twice for a third time and as a coach why would you go back apart from what I mentioned above.

Only thing your guaranteed at Waitakere is to be sacked : )

End of the road for Waitakere is the word on the street but Im guessing that will not surprise too many. A financial mess apparently with no way out this time. Players and coaches owed money from 2 seasons ago and NZF cant ignore it anymore.

Almost 10 years ago they were OFC champions and were one of the two best teams in the country for many years. 16/17 season they lost the Premiership semi-final on penalties. Such a shame all that successful short history has gone to waste if true.
