You'd think so when the chairman is reputedly worth 50mill.

Was speaking to someone at the weekend who told me the kind of money that TKU were throwing around in the NRFL last season. I think we can safely say that money isn't an issue there.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

So thanks to the match report from ACFC in their recent game against WU we know the following players are at the very least trialling:

Sam Burfoot
Danyon Drake
Oliver Bassett
Silvio Rodic

and also the return of Jake Butler

Interesting...

Danyon Drake - interesting, obviously wants some game time and doesn't think he'll get it being behind Zubrikari at ACFC, also explains Ruben Parker signing for Auckland City

really solid player who has a good work ethic. Leader in a team which all teams need and the fact he plays CM is a massive plus with these atributes

Some interesting but strong additions. Will see who makes it to Christmas!

Some cash invested there ......... But they cannot pay players and coaches from previous seasons

Hard to understand but I guess if NZF let you away with it why not keep doing it !

Youth team went down 5-1 to Auckland City at the Croatian Club this afternoon. Probably not a fair reflection of the game Waitakere created many many chances and ACFC's were largely off the counter. Tawanda Marowa with the goal for Waitak.

Last minute signing of NCR player coach Bill Robertson today

Watched most of the game on TV.  Waitak has what I believe to be a very good squad.  Played like shark,  definitely time to freshen up the coach there.

I don't really know who is owed money etc so that may be a factor.

Rumors are that Waitak will be folding end of the season and TKU to try take over the license

Would rather see it go to Manukau myself

Permalink Permalink

That rumour has been out since about May. I think having a licence at Central and a licence at 3KU whom are no more than a 5min drive in traffic apart is quite dumb. I would go to the North Shore just for separation

In a truly competitive club based national league, with promotion relegation, proximity couldn't be a factor, but yeah, i get what you're saying vader

I saw some talk on twitter that a couple of Waitak players refused to travel for the game

Didn't see twitter but know long time club captain Jake Butler and Andrew Abba decided their time was better spent playing in a  Fijian tournament.  Also no sign of Suni Issa over the last few weeks....

If it's the Fijian tournament I'm thinking of... some good money to be made there. I've heard rumours they've previously paid four figures for a player for a weekend.

Based on the rumoured reliability of pay cheques from Waitak, $4 would be an improvement on earnings

The end is near although being saying that for a while ! : ) - Its a sinking ship but NZF turn a blind eye to the debts they have. So many people owed money from them it is scary ..........

Well their last Financial Statement from 11 October 2017 had them $170,116 in debt. This years one should be coming out soon as appears they get uploaded every October.

Jeez, compare that with ACFC's player payments, 144k vs 980k.

No wonder they dominate the league.

Have they a saviour sitting quietly in the wings for when current lot of club officials throw in the towel?

Well, you can't sell the license - because it's NZF's.

The problem is the club will not throw in the towel and admit defeat - They have taken the option of continuing to hand out agreements to people knowing fully they cannot honor them.

Why ? Because they can and there is no sanctions to stop them doing so .........

Hone Fowler as chairman allows no alienation in the squad between club and board, he genuinely puts his all into the club and region and it's refreshing to see. Also a fantastic social media presence.

Would also like to know what's going on with TKU especially following such a dismal season
