Dead right, all NZFC clubs will suffer a knock to their income. For some it will be quite serious.

Well, geez, you don't have to sound happy about it. The NZFC is vital to football in this country. Esp. if we're hoping to have the Nix reserves in it.

Big LOL @  Waitakere!!.
Must congrat Hekari United on there achivement...Being one of the poorest O-League clubs they could use the money and put it to good use, unlike some one we know.

Hekari.

Also, one of the poorest clubs who have signed a stack of Solomon's internationals to play for a Papua New Guinea club ?  I remain unconvinced.

Rubbish - who are you trying to fool? On paper Hekari are bums compared to Waitakere.

Not even close.

I'm just saying that based on what a number of the same players have been paid to play in Australia and NZ in the past I don't think those Solomon's players are at Hekari for love.

Great result for Micronesian football, just watching it now, but I'm not naive enough to think Hekari are particularly poor.  They've got money from somewhere, maybe not as much as some NZ sides have spent but certainly a decent amount.

how dare those upstarts from the islands pay money for players - totally against the spirit of the game.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Haha Waitakere

I just hope, for the sake of Oceania football, that Hekari dont totally embarrass themselves against the big guns at the CWC...

There was a little piece in the back of the match programme last weekend about that, actually. Saying they've got all the talent from the islands and pooled them into one team- and if NZ did that then we'd rape them. Or something along those lines. Can't remember exactly, tbf.

Excellent result for Hekari and for PNG football. All the best to them at the Club World Cup in December.

Three for me, and two for them.

Excellent result for Island football  and good on them for winning but a very poor result for NZ football. maybe this shows us that we are not quite as advanced in the game domestically as we think we are.

It doesn't matter that Hekari had pulled in a lot of other Island players, in reality we should not be losing to the Island sides (even away from home).

Not a good advert for the NZFC unfortunately and no one should be gloating over Waitakeres loss we should take this as a wake up call.

This may be as big a wakeup call as it was when the Solomons knocked the All Whites out of WC qualifying in 2005.

Or when we got knocked out of U20s qualification in the Islands a couple of years ago.

It's not the end of the world though.  Just a lesson that we can't underestimate the Island teams, especially away from home.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Lol, we all knew what Waitakere were up against before the match. There was a bit of luck and chance involved in the game. At the end Waitakere knew what was needed and came up short. I hope that Hekari will do OFC proud in the CWC and stir some upsets like at least beating the host national champion club.

Probably offset a little bit by some extra money from ACFCs performance this year and FIFA money for players at the World Cup though? (for some franchises).

Still not a good look though...

Mark my words this is a serious knock on the finances for most NZFC franchises - this is really going to rattle a few....
