Waitakere v Auckland - The Million Dollar Match

Three for me, and two for them.

Thoughts on arguably the most important match of the season.

I'm really looking forward to this one tomorrow night, very excited and nervous about it at the same time. One thing that is crucial is that we MUST NOT CONCEDE!! I think it'll be another game settled by the odd goal, and i can't see us getting 2 against them so 1 will have to do it. A draw ain't good enough either so a clean sheet is a must, but Siggy and Greg will be back and Tamati has been playing well recently, but they're all gonna have to have huge games if we are to win.

So i'll stick my neck out and go with my heart here, 1-0 City.

Three for me, and two for them.

Tried that for a few hours now, didn't work. Tried having a long hot shower, didn't work. Now what?

Three for me, and two for them.

coach has to go, stupid subs, had no idea what to do!

What a weird set of subs. Taking off experienced players to get kids on. Most of the second half they were camped in Waitak's half but they all seemed to keep getting in the way. Apart from the one shot that the keeper spilled the chances were few and far between. If anything Waitak should have sealed the game and their coach must be ready to hang menapi and butler for those misses. A draw was a fair result. Hay's header from the corner in the first half was somehow kept out and if that had gone in then the game was over.

For what was at stake it was a very good game to watch. Waitak's defending is outstanding as Jordan and Young probably had their best games in 2 years.

Hard on Auckland City but they dont seem to have the direction they need to win the tight ones this season.

he had two players left on the bench in wylie and campbell, and decides to put on feneridis, no disrespect to the kid, but not the sort of game where where you put on a youngster, needed experience in that case. taking off lee was a disapointing substitute aswell as he was the only one creating for acfc, when he went off they had no one on the field doing the same.

Maybe that is why Colin has never won anything. Bad calls at the wrong time. I have always thought he gets a lot out of players but when it comes to the crunch he seems to never get there.

surely thats a sign he wont stay one then, i mean if they dont win ths weekend and dont win the grand final then there goes there o league spot aswell!

This is a bit delusional and must just be media speak:

"I was very pleased with the effort on Wednesday," said Tuaa. "If Keryn (Jordan's) shot off the crossbar at a vital stage had gone in, the result could have been different.

"The morale in the squad is very good. We didn't make the final but we didn't lose the game and I think we're up for making sure of a win on Sunday. That would give us one foot in the door of making the O-League again."

He is out of the O-league finals and he is struggling to put out a team for the weekend, how can he possibly be pleased? If he wants to talk about chances what about all the ones the other mob missed on Wednesday. I would think internally he must be absolutely livid.

If you played devils advocate, who would be in to replace him, Aaron Mcfarlane?? Does he have the mandated coaching credentials required by NZF to coach the NZFC?

Gee guys you are a bit harsh on Tuaa? I didn't see the match but you have to admit, from the very beginning that either be WU or AC will be the teams to beat in the O-league. It was always touch and go either way.

If they perform below the top two places in the NZFC then you could consider firing him but who will be good enough to replace him?

well hes taken from what was a title winning side to nearly out of the o league, struggling to make the top 2 of league, maybe not even the final, in that case, he must go!

wait a minute, where did Auckland City finish in the league table last year and how far did they get in the O-League? For at least another 9 days, they haven't done any worse than last season!!!!!!!!!!

Yes but last year they had the trip to Japan to contend with. They haven't had that this year. I for one question the removal of coaches as it does seem very knee jerked but sometimes a coach is a dead man walking.

Colin put a line in the sand and elected to remove some stalwarts of the club and his replacements have never come up to speed. The coaches opinion matters in that case.

He has had a much less cluttered workload than Waitakere and regardless how the matches have gone they have played 5 times and the record reads 3 wins to Waitak and 2 draws. City have only scored 2 goals in those games. For a proud club like City this can't be acceptable.

I too question who could replace him as in Auckland there aren't too many coaches able to coach at the top of the NZFC. They have tried Wilkinson and Tuaa and both seem to be found wanting. McFarland is probably the next cab off the rank but that is a huge punt. So in that case Tuaa will survive but he will have to win the Grand Final at least to get the committee off his bck

Will it be enough though? I mean Marshall won us the NZFC last year but he was still given the chop.

Three for me, and two for them.

Not sure why they gave Marshall the chop. The players think he is really abrasive. Isnt this an indictment on the game in Auckland. Milicich has Waitakere and is doing well so he has one job but who gets the other one if something happens. You have Marshall, Jones, McFarland and then absolute distance.

Bring back Allan Jones and Craig Alexander is what I would be doing if I was City.

Marshy did not get the chop. Didn't put his hat in the ring due to business commitments.

Mili's only caretaker coach until results go against him. Keeping the seat warm for Emblem.

He's got the surname but Mili will never coach at Kiwitea St.

Probably the same kind of reasons why Wengar could never go to United or even want to.
Things have been said, egoes bruised, "clash' of personalities!!!!!!!
