was about 75 there, not unusual for the Phoenix who TBH are pretty poor at promoting these games
Interesting that the original purpose of the weenix was supposedly to give non-playing first teamers some game time to keep them fit...which seems now to have changed somewhat, although maybe just a function of the number of injuries?

it changes each season, the first season they were allowed 3 pros and that could be extended to 6 with agreement from the opposition coach. Last season they were effectively an U20 team (Olympic style, with a 2-3 overage players) This season they are called the reserve team not sure what restrictions there are but they had Singh, Lowry, Rogerson who are all pros - also had McGarry, not sure if he is on pro contract

The restrictions this season are the same as they were last season. They are allowed as many U-20 pros as there are alive, a pro goalkeeper, and two overage pro outfielders. Rufer and Ridenton were U-20 last season, but are not this season, while Singh has signed as a pro, is the difference.
They've been called U-20 and reserves in various places. We call them reserves at Stuff because the notion of a U-20 team with players over 20 is hilarious.
They've gone competitive, bad, competitive so far, usually in line with where the non-pro players have been at age-wise. This year set to be another 'bad' one as a new group come through in earnest (with the likes of Sinclair, Bell, Cahill-Fleury gone from last year).

Trash is a bit harsh the locals put in a good effort but as the guy above you said - great facility in general - it just isn't a national league ground. Frustrating to get to, frustrating to park at, no covered seating (rain scares people away), no seating (fine with me, not everyone else, e.g. my GF didn't come because of the rain...), frustrating for camera crews, etc.
The actual field feels smaller than BMK as well but that might just be me.

I think while Suburbs do free entry that boutique grounds are ok - it is a summer national league so hopefully most games are played without much rain so WGD shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Absolutely agree. Ngahue is a great turf but yeah, I have a bit of a practice here probably twice a week and I don't even bother with any shooting due the wind. The wind is a crock of shark.
And yeah, no clubrooms, and as far as I know no food facilities, no liquor license, and the only toilets are part of the changing rooms?? (I'm not sure).
I can deal with no parking. Kiwitea is my favourite pitch in Auckland (coming from someone who is in no way a a central or city fan!) because everything else is pretty great.
Granted, if BMK is in use (which I assume it was last weekend) I'm not sure where else you'd go. But I can see why fans might not turn up to William Green.
@HN - William Green is turf as well. They also train on turf at Ngahue. I assume BMK was booked.

I didn't realise Ngahue was that bad. Wrongly assumed as an OFC facility it would have been built properly with facilities but clearly not! Bill McKinlay would be a great option
I'll bite. Dave Farrington is the ground at the back end of Wellington. Have no desire to tackle the Mt Vic tunnel at the weekend to come spectate. The location is a big issue, not just facilities.

It took me exactly one hour to go from Ngaio to to TW vs WeeNix a couple of weeks back. Call me selfish but I do miss the days of Newtown park.
Round the bays or skirt around to Newtown and go over Constable street. On a Sunday avoid the Terrace Tunnel to the Mount Vic. Tunnel exit at all costs. I usually leave home about 45-50 minutes before have a couple of pick-ups in town and still make it in plenty of time.
How many players can the Nix drop down to the Weenix for there game vs city?
All the U-20s - Singh, Rogerson, McGarry, Smith. An old GK if they want. Two other oldies.

Watson missed a sitter. Best player for Nix was Parkhouse by far
Nix reserves/Under 20's very ordinary. Apart from Parkhouse who worked hard all day , no one stood out. Watson limited , Italiano a bit shaky , Singh looks to have gone backwards. McCowatt far superior to any of the Phoenix youngsters .Really could have been more
