Who do you support in the NZFC

Down here we don't have the numbers for one club to do this. Even in the days of the old National League ChCh Utd were an amalgamation of 4 clubs. Any club side from here that has tried to go it alone has struggled. Cant Utd as a joint entity franchise model has been working well until recently when the board have for some reasondecided that they are not representative of all clubs in the region but an entity in their own right (re the saga of English Park). The franchise model works well down heere and I acknowledge Central/AC are setting the standard but be aware that other areas are striving to achieve that same standard or better. I don't see the need to "copy" the Auckland set up, although this is what NZ football intended by setting up the franchise system in the first place. that is precisely the nature of a franchise, so if anything we would be copying the NZF model, not Auckland. There will always be room for differences in a competitive environment and this is where each identity needs to work a bit harder to promote the game in their own area.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Team Wellington.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

On a great summers day, when its not windy, or raining, or when theres no police presence at the Newtown flats, or when the zoo is not packed out so you can still get a park.....Team Wellington at Newtown Park is not bad.....LOL

Team Wellington. I hope to go to the first match away in Waitakere (I'll be in Auckland on the day, so why not?).

Get a map. Waitakere are playing at Fred Taylor Park this season cos their other paddock is getting a new surface. Frankly, Uranus is closer to Auckland than Fred Taylor Park.
I've yet to have a good experience there. Rain, wind and Waikato sides seldom come away with anything up there. Take a brolly, tent and you can buy a small green collapsible seat from the Warehouse out off SH20 somewhere for $6.99.
It's in a rural setting miles from civilisation....rumour has it Star Trek 8 will be filmed at Fred Taylor:-p

Aren't Auckland homeless as well ?

I thought someone said to me they are talking about playing at the Croatian Club which is pretty much as Westy as Fred Taylor.

Glad the NZFC set standards for ground quality.

Cheers for the heads up. Now I just gotta figure out how to get there...hopefully they're not so rural as to not afford a bus route...

Yes ACFC are playing a few games at the Croatian Club, somewhere near Oratia, so Nola won't have too far to walk to the games:-p
It's not Parrs Park is it? The ACFC ground will still be light years closer to the Auckland CBD than FTP is. That ground has got to be the most difficult ground in the country to get to. I even whine "are we there yet" and I'm the poor sod usually driving out to the neatherworld!
I'd say the NZFC standards should perhaps be dropped which would save Waikato FC $50k in ground hireage for a start. Play their games at Kahikatea Park hahahaha. The atmosphere with a crowd of 5 there would really take off.
Man if rugby are suggesting they are having trouble sustaining a 14 team Qantas Trophy competition, what hope is there for football? We got a last minute sponsor...a charitable trust, but what happens when that dries up?

Robwatson...don't consider a bus at all! I think you'd spend all day making connections to get to the end of SH20 or perhaps you could get a bus to Kumeu and then taxi back to Fred Taylor. Hey I don't even know if they have taxi's in Kumeu?
Rural is the word dude. Finding a football ground in Fiordland would be easier:-p

Yeah Rob, it ain't pretty.

Whenuapai coaches probably used to go out there, don't know if they still do.

Best bet Robb is to look at the Waitak website and contact them, they should know.

Waitakere have moved because a stand is being built at Douglas field. They also used the opportunity to get the ground done. The stand looks good too, had a nosey yesterday.

Auckland City are playing at the Croation Club at McLeod Road opposite Waitematas home ground

We all know your dad has alot of knowledge Sam but you don't need to come on here and stick up for him.  I think he is generally well respected.  I also think forums are for people to voice their opinions if thats what canary feels, let him write it.  I'v also noticed a continuning theame to his postings. So what.  let it be and don't be so tough.
