Waitak well worth their win despite a frantic finish.
Appears to me that the worm has turned in the last two years and Milicich has the wood over Tuaa tactically.
Auckland look rather ordinary - wonder whetherr Young and Jordan have gone a season too long. Lack any creativity in the middle of the park and defensively a lttle ordinary.
Ytak goals a 20 yd free kick from Pearce after a typical RVS challenge , and Kopricivic. Not sure who got Aucklands.
Gillespie very good for Ytak - lot of admiration for someone who has done the hard yards as No 2 at both clubs and getting his rewards now. Perry outstanding and Krishna is going to do some damage somewhere this season.
Still think that Ytak are going to struggle in Japan.

A good result for Waitakere. According to the report they were battered in the first half but Auckland couldn't put the ball in the net when it counted.

The crowd is listed as just 753. I know it's an evening kick-off but that seems worryingly low to me. All crowds in the NZFC this season seem to be way down on previous years...

I think Waitakere have enough quality to beat teams here and in the O-League without playing a lot of football.  They capitalise on mistake, have some quality up front and are fairly hard to break down.  That's just not enough when you are coming up against teams in the Club World Cup, they'll just sit deep and wait for you to break them down and if you don't have the creativity you'll always struggle.

Was that at Waitakere ?  If so 753 is a decent crowd.

That one was played at Kiwitea Street. I would've thought the game would've dragged in a few more punters than that.

I wouldn't read too much into the crowd - 5.45 pm kick off in Auckland not exactly spectator friendly. I was only there because I wasn't working that day.

yep more brilliant work from our "Leaders"

seriously for the NZFC to be mismanaged would be a massive improvement....

From what I've seen of Waitak, I'd agree with that. Wise words, JD. (In my humble opinion)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Strange to see that "official" figure of 750 odd on the NZFC website, not sure where that was plucked from? The crowd was in fact more like 1100-1200, which given the day of the week and kick-off time was not too bad.

Strange KO time. I was tempted to go along and watch it, but the 5.45 kick-off time put me off.
