What if nobody knows their names..
The game I saw at in Germany had there pictures on the bigscreen. As the announcer said:
"Number 6, Ross" crowd responds with "Aloisi"
It sounded marvellous.
I cannot believe the announcer could not pronounce Aloisi.
What a c**t!
I know that was disgusting.

What about our one name Brazilians?

Player Introductions
Hi all,
Not to sure if this has been mentioned. But does anyone
know who would do the talking over on the PA at game day?
It we could arrange that the players name are introduced over
the PA and the crowd respond with the surname. I saw this
for the first time when I watched a Bundesliga game. It
just sounded great with everyone yelling the last names.
It is possible to arrange this??
Agree it would be great to have them introduced to the crowd so we
can get an idea of each of them without going to and fro in the
programme looking at numbers. Some may not be able to afford the
programme too
Arsenal do this also agreed it is a good way to set atmosphere and
create a little intimidation for opponents

Announcer: "Number 1, Mark....."
Crowd: "Aloisi"
Announcer: "Number 2, Stephen....."
Crowd: "Aloisi"
etc
Doesn't make sense to me..............
^^ Surely your not that dumb.......... nah I know your taking the piss
Great idea though gmsimons, it would be awesome - something new to NZ too.
Its funny listening to the Arsenal games when the crowd yell
the surnames and certain players get there names mumbled because
they dont know how to pronounce them properly , like Hleb
(pronouced K-leb) and Rosicky (pronounced ROH-sits-key)
What about our one name Brazilians?
Announcer: "Number 7, Daniel"
Crowd: "..... Walking in a Wynton wonderland!" ;)
yeah this would be awesome and its such a small little thing that could e organised an I always thought would be really good at rugby games (cos sittin at rugby games in NZ is about exciting as watching Chelsea play football - nah jokes all you chelsea fans!)
anyways the champs league second leg at bayern Munich versus
Real was awesome. but i think the programmes would have to come
with a guide to pronounce the players names cos then it'd might
sound a little silly you know!
like Number wateva Costa . . . . .BarBROsrousee
(???)
I think it's definitly something the PA could practice with
the crowd before the game starts. it'd just grow from there
So this is how it panned out on Sunday:
As each opposition player is read out, we respond with
"who?"
As each WPFC player is read out we respond with a cheer.
Simple as that for now.
Anyone got any thoughts? Should we continue with this, change
it?
I think we shoud do something, and given that the stadium
announcer seems in a hurry to read the names, perhaps what we have
so far is the most workable suggestion . . .. .
I think that is a great idea. Seemed to just evolve and work
really well.
I say keep it up!!!

Serious? That's appalling...sack the hack!
Daniel's surname is cortes, cleberson's is gois and then
there's george palazini (? SPELLING???), I'm not 100% on felipe
thogh
isnt felipe's campos?

Let's hope so, pre-game drinking ban for anyone that stuffs it
