Gold Coast and Newcastle away - 15-20 Jan 2012
over 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
A couple of us have already booked up for the back-to-back games in Aussie in January; Gold Coast on the Sunday 15th January, then down to Newcastle for Friday 20th! Will probably go to the Brisbane V Sydney game on the 14th Jan as well.

Any one else planning for these or keen?

I'll be at the GCU game on the 15th - family (6) in tow.

Plan is to have a beer at RJs before the game and then catch RJ's courtesy bus to and from the game - it's 5 minutes from RJs to Skilled Park.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Awesome! I was a bit worried a couple of weeks ago when I bought our tickets and found I had numbers 2 and 3! At least one other Nix fan was going....  Saying that, we've got tickets 1 and 2 in Newcastle!!

We are going to the Bris V Syd game on the Saturday night (and have tickets in the Den ), should be on the Gold Coast by lunch time. Few beers in Sufferers, then RJs it is! Is that in Robina?

Yep, RJs is in Robina. Nice pub, decent food and a few of the GCU supporters meet there so a good football atmosphere.

See you at RJs !

I am heading down the Goldie for your game on Sunday. Geez you picked a pub about as far away from the stadium as you can get! Not sure if I will make pre match bevvies, I shall see.

Anyone heading to the Brisbane v Sydney game at Suncorp on Saturday night, join us for a beer with my fellow Roar fans at the Stadium Bar on Caxton Street. $5 pints is a winner and Phoenix fans are always welcome in Brisbane.

Hope to see a few of you there!

Cheers,
John

We're heading around the Brewery Bar area on the Waterfront on Thursday night, then apparantly there's a big pub on the intersection very near the ground. That's where we're planning on being pre-game on Friday. The 5 Noo-castle boys who came to welly before christmas were a cracking bunch so we'll probably catch up with them at some time. They invited us to the tennis club next to the ground - and apparantly it isn't a wind up!!

Cheers, Steve

We will be there In newie also, I'm dragging a few bling and a few wells supporters up. It's been a long wait to see the boys in NSW, but with newie, Sydney and ccm games over the next 6 weeks, I can't wait.

We will have our big wind rain and the Phoenix banner... There, let's catch up for beers...

If anyone is in Sydney, I run a pub, the Haymarket hotel, in the CBS and free beers for the Phoenix supporters... Just let me know when ur around...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

+1

Came out really well. It must have seemed like a home game to the guys, hence the win.

Phoenix Fan in Sydney - free beers - come on down! You want a lift up to Newie on Friday? Were leaving about 10am, staying the night so we can get our drink on, then coming back the next day?

Love to see a massive group for the Sydney game here... was talking to the boys about sponsoring the forum, but I'll put a $1k on the bar for Nix supporters on game day!

We should even get the boys back here after the game...

TOUR UPDATE!

Top night in Brissie with the Roar boys - hope we weren't too rowdy for you John!

What an awesome turnout at GCU - reckon there were between 100-150 Nix fans there! And boy did we sing! The few GCU boys we chatted to in there pub were a really good bunch - and virtually none of them were Aussies! Good on a few of the Roar boys for coming down and joining us too! AND WE WON! Who cares that the weather is worse here in Welly, certainly wasn't expecting Wind, Rain and Phoenix!

Fly down to Newcastle today for the next episode! Sorry, no ideas what that pub is called, only that you can't miss it. We'll see you there!

The Squadron usually drink at the Newcastle District Tennis Club which is not far from both the ground and Broadmeadow Train Station.

Directions HERE!

I'm sure Timmy V and the lads will look after you!C-Diddy2012-01-19 18:17:56

Feel free to join us on 12 Feb.  We are playing some mob from near the Gold Coast, and your ongoing support of the Nix would be greatly appreciated

On the road from Syd to Newie in a hour. How many will we get to the game? Will we top 150?

You're just a suburb of Sydney! MarcoRojas2012-01-20 10:12:44

great to catch up with you boys and girls last night. Sung our hearts out, drank the stadium dry, made some Newie mates...

Well done to the boys! Big effort back to back away!

Well done everyone!!!

Now in Sydney and on the way home after another CRACKING night!

I think we christened Ricky's academy kids the Yellow Fever Juniors - they sung their hearts out too! And for some reason, the throat is sore and I have a wee bit of a headache today!

Probably the only regret I have from this trip is that we didn't go to Newcastle a couple of days earlier instead of staying in Sufferer's. We had a brilliant time with a great bunch of lads.

So final thoughts from this tour - go to Newcastle, it's a great away trip! If you go to the Gold Coast, don't stay in Surfer's unless you have kids as the pubs are rubbish.

As for the night out is Newcastle - marvellous!

For those that know him, Timmy (Newcastle) was taken to hospital last night after a bit of a turn at the game. It was precautionary, and he's ok. We made sure our best regards reached him.

So back to normality now, see you in the BB on Sunday!

No, don't think so! We started at The Premier, then went to the Tennis Club before and after the game. Next was a place called SJ's (Sydney Junction) and from there to a big place near SJ's that I can't remember the name of! Mind you, it was getting pretty late by then and plenty of celebrating had occured!   I think the local door men were quite surprised to see both sets of fans partying on together!

Oh you went down Beaumont Street.

SJ's is good craic!

You lads are welcome back to Brisbane any time mate. Had a top pre-match with you lads, topped magnificently by beating the Scum.  If it helps your memory (given youve probably drowned most of it in alcohol since then) I was the bloke you lads spoke to outside Stadium bar that arvo when you arrived.  I'm definatly doing Wello away next season when the Roar come to town.

Kudos on your numbers at GCU as well.  I reckon you out numbered the Beach. You certainly out sung them (TV doesn't lie).

And apologies for the signiture. It's in appreciation for the great David Dodd, a genius well before his time.  It's in no way intended as a slight on the Nix.
