Second leg of a Heart & WSW Christmas / New Year double.

Will be there with family (2 others).

Really looking forward to the atmosphere at Parramatta Stadium.

Anyone else planning to be there, any suggestions for a bar to meet up at before the game ?

WSW games ill most likely be at the rose and crown in parramatta. We went there for the game last season. We will have to check they will be open New Year's Day first. It will be posted up closer to the game. Or after the round 2 clash

What's up, fellas? Glad to hear things are in planning for you guys to venture to Wanderland on New Years day. I hope to see a decent contingent. Fill up the away bays and get the corner pumping!

I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them. Parramatta is a nice place, safe as just about any other part of Sydney. Lots of good restaurants on Church Street in Parramatta. I'm pretty sure that the rose and crown is used by away fans. Looks like the WSW fan march will be going up Marsden Street instead of Church Street this season (unless things change in the coming weeks).

Go see the Sydney Harbour new years fireworks the night before too!

Jet Cat up the Parra river from Syd Harbour (if the tides permit) is a great way to arrive in style too.

Tickets not on sale until 31 October (11.00am NZ time).

Might pay to get in quickly even though you would hope there would be a reasonable number available for away supporters.

I've just been on the phone with Brenda from Ticketek, re tickets for this game, & she is getting in touch with Ticketek Australia, to see about reserving some seats prior to them going on sale on the 15th. How many are going? Who would like tickets if we can pre-book them? We dont want WSW fans snapping up the few tickets there are!

Phoenix are trying to set up a pre-sale option for Season ticket holders with Ticketek Australia. There will be a password released & we can phone ticketek to book them before they go on general sale. I will keep you informed of developments.

Ticketek have reserved a block for us, that we can book through the website with a code, to be supplied, or we can phone Brenda on Monday on 09 336 5240. There will be a message, probably on Facebook, coming from the Phoenix with the code.

Ditto.

Anyone have a suggestion for a pub close (ideally a short walking distance, one of our group is elderly) to the ground for Nix supporters to meet up before the game ?

I got some tickets this morning on the website as well, but the away section has been removed now, going back up tomorrow I presume?.
Best bet is to give Brenda a ring at Ticketek in Auckland as she can access the Australian ticketek site.

Getting fired up for this! How many others coming along?

No idea how many others going but they'll be 3 in my group - planning to go to Rose and Crwon before the game.

Hopefully a reasonable number of Nix supporters in Sydney on holiday who'll come along.

I'll give that a try, thanks.

Edit: That's the one thanks but as I was about to pay I've discovered I've left my card behind the bar at the pub last Thurs night...

Edit: Card & licence retrieved, ticket bought.

With the password for tickets hopefully we get a big turn out being a lot easier to buy tickets this time round. Hoping for a Massive turn at game and for some pre-drinks to help numb the hangover I'm most will have

It is very likely that I will be making the drive up from Orange, IF I can get tickets tomorrow. Hoping for the best!

Just back from the game! Awesome night in the away corner. Voice is gone! Cheers to everyone else who was there thought we put in a good effort. really enjoyed seeing the WSW fans leave early! COYN

Great effort by those that were there - huge thumbs up! :-)

Could someone do a bit of a trip report please? Where to go, where to drink, how to get there, what not to do (!), where to get kevlar etc? Helps for future away trip planning and should be easier to do when it's not doom and gloom!! Thanks! :-)

Weather was fine & warm, sky was blue, grass was green, public transport was excellent. Easiest way from circular quay to parramatta was the ferry- $7.20 EW drops you 10 mins away from the Rose & Crown, which has great beer, excellent value bubbles, really grumpy bar staff (who kept the place open until the last four of us left !!!!!!) Plenty of WSW fans in there who were good sorts.

Train is also a good option, as they run every 15mins from Sydney to Parramatta, then its a free bus to the stadium or to Church St, then the pub is just a 5 min walk down Victoria St. Trains run every 15 mins up until about 1.30am back to Sydney

Pirtek Stadium is then a 10-15 minute walk from the pub.

Kevlar protection was un-necessary as the WSW fans, including the RBB guys i spoke to were good sorts. To get amongst it with the RBB after the game head to The Roxy.

Fun was had by all that attended (including the Sydney FC fan & his small son in the front row) We were offered a Police escort, which, I believe, was taken by a certain YF executive illuminati, whilst the rest of us wallowed in our glory & ambled/staggered out, with the WSW fans.

Shopping in Parramatta is f**king unbelievable, so do as I did & stay in Parramatta.

In summary, a great trip, made into an unbelievable trip, by combining NYE in Sydney  with a magnificent win by the Nix.

See you all in Brisbane!

I remember an away trip to Victory in S1, it was the week after Sydney had been in town and there had been a bit of trouble. The VicPol insisted on the travelling YF getting in the back of the police vans to be driven from Y&Js to the stadium to avoid trouble!

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!
