Sydney Away 7 Nov

Not sure if I am being a little premature but I have some questions for those that have been and/or are going to the Sydney Away Game on Friday 7 November.

I have my flights sorted. Would have stayed longer but family commitments means I can't.

My Questions:

1. Are you going?

2. Recommendations on Accommodation - of course have goggled and been to Sydney before but wondered where those of you that are going are staying?

3. Match Tickets - can't imagine its going to be sold out but should I get tickets online in advance or is on the gate on the night safe?

4. Pre/Post Match drinking holes - Is there a common meet place?

Thanks in Advance.

Tickets available thru Ticketek Australia ( oh noooo..) @ AUD19 for Away supporters (behind the goal I assume).   Just buy from Ticketek when you get there or at gate (or online if you want to risk it).

Ticketek agencies in Sydney CBD below.

Agency Address CBD Hum on Oxford, 55 Oxford St Darlinghurst (cnr Riley St) CBD Theatre Royal Sydney, MLC Centre, 108 King St - City Box Office Collect Hyde Park Ticketek @ Park, 50 Park St (cnr Castlereagh St) - City Box Office Collect Wynyard Colours of Life - Kodak Express, Shop T3 Met Centre, 273 George St

I'm just going to grab my ticket from a Ticketek agency on the Friday when I arrive. Failing that, at the gate.

Haven't booked accommodation yet but will do so probably thru wotif.com or lastminute.co.au  .
I see the people organising the package on the Phoenix site are staying at Citigate Sebel Sydney (Surry Hills).

Sorry, don't know where the others are planning to meet up but I'm sure that will be organised at some stage. There seems to be a few people going over.

Let's start a count :  me and my cuz = 2

A bunch of mates and I are heading to Melbourne for the Melbournce Cup, then on to Sydney for the Nix vs Bling game, not sure on exact numbers but there will probably be between 10-30 of us. Most of us are staying with some of the lads who live in Sydders, we'll probably buy tickets on Thursday or Friday from one of the ticketecs. As for meeting before the game, someone was organizing a tour so i said we'd go meet up with them, with all this moving around a threads I've no idea where to find it now.
Anyway we'll see you there, you can't miss me, I'm 6 foot 6, shaved head and I'm generally really f**king loud (especially after a few beers). I'll be the one chanting "You all live in a prison colony, a prison colony, a prison colony!"

Does anyone know which drinking establishment the Nix supporters are meeting before the game?

I've stuck this to top of forum so we don't lose it.

Can someone do us a favour and find the old thread, and link to it...

Emptied now

The pub we where in last year was the Hopetoun on the cnr of Fitzroy and Bourke St. But they've kicked the Cove of for being too lively and upsetting the grunge/emo types that haunt the place the other 6.5 days of the week the Cove are not there.

I believe the vast majority of the supporters are now drinking in the Captain Cook hotel, can't miss it, on the cnr or Moore Park Road and Flinders St opposite the stadium

Hi all,

First time poster long time lurker here, have finally decided to take the plunge and sign up.
Anyway, we have a group of 5 or 6 lads from the mighty WKAFC Cougars heading over to Sydders on the 7th for this game as well, so add +6 to that list. Would defo be keen to meet up with other Phoenix supporters before the match.

Cheers

Yep, this seems to be one of the main hang outs both pre and post match. The Bat and Ball Hotel across the road also seems popular, as is the Fox and Lion at Fox Studios. All are less than 5 minutes walk to the Stadium.

Anyone reading this travellingt to/from Lower Hutt that wants to a) share a cab or b) Share cost of airport parking (your car) and is on a early morning (6amish) flight from Wellington on Friday 7th and back into Wellington arriving about midnight on the Saturday the 8th that is travelling to/from Lower Hutt?

A bonus is that if you are keen and are on flight NZ741 (on 7th to Syd) and NZ744 on way back on 8th i can get you into Koru lounge with me.

A bunch of us are heading over earlier and going to the Melbourne cup on the Tuesday, we may even have a couple of beers while we are there!

Anyway someone select a good pub (maybe not the Sydney supporters pub) and we'll all meet there before the game.

Fitz

PS. There should be between 20-30 lads and ladies with me so don't make it a sh*thole pub.

Has anyone got any recommendations for places to stay? We've got a group of six, and have been looking at serviced apartments but there don't seem to be many available. We're trying to stick around the darling harbour area, but looking for somewhere that won't break the budget.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi All,

I've just been let out to play again after my weekend out. The information I could gather was:

1.The guy at the Captain Cook said that they have plenty there before each Bling match, and there is chanting etc. The Fox and Lion at Fox studios also apparently has a big turn up, and is much friendlier if you have kids, womenfolk and the like as they have a large outdoor area, and can send the older kids off to shops/ studio tours etc.

Hopefully I haven't been given bad info!

2. If people don't have tickets yet, they are $19/each (for the away supporters are) from Ticketek. There are a few outlets in the City, and the main office is near Hyde Park.

3. The best place for accomodation over here is is on Wotif, http://www.wotif.com/ , usually can get at least 40% off the usual price of hotels. If you plan to bevvy on after the match, then definately book in the CBD or Eastern Suburbs (Bondi, Coogee, Randwick etc).

Looking forward to it.

Sounds good to me Wonky. Im happy to go where ever the majority are going to be or want to go.

So all those going to this game and reading this are there any other meet suggestions or shall we make this the 'official' pre game meet point?
