Sydney venue to watch Phoenix matches

At the end of last season, a few Sydney-based Phoenix fans got together at The Pumphouse near Chinatown/Darling Harbour to watch the the final couple of games. Was nice to have the company of some fellow fans after struggling for most of the season just to find somewhere that would actually show games.

In a rare piece of forward-thinking, I got in touch with the folks at The Pumphouse over the weekend - a few of whom are football supporters (despite some poor choice in clubs) - and they seem welcome to the idea of showing games again on the big screen, if that's what people want. They also happen to have one of the best beer lists in Sydney so, as far as I'm concerned, that's my two most important boxes ticked.

If anyone else is interested, I'll more than likely be heading there for the opening game vs Sydney FC (Saturday Oct 6th) which I believe is a 4:30pm kick-off (Sydney time). The strange kick-off time is due to daylight savings - happy to be corrected though.

We were at the Pumphouse for the Perth finals match. Agree it wasn't a bad place and the staff were considerate with volume etc. However, as most of my mates are Bling fans, (think of it as social work) I'll be watching todays game at the Exhibition; but for future matches the Pumphouse could be the go.

I could def hit up the pumphouse.. What are the prices for beers?

Couldn't say for sure - guessing it'll depend on your choice of beverage. Can't image you'd be breaking the bank with bog standard stuff, but if you're after something interesting with a bit of flavour you'll likely pay for it. As they say, quality comes with a price. Though, am sincerely hoping Del Piero disproves that today by having minimal impact.

(excuse the self promotion but this is a genuine get together request) ...

Or you can come to the Harlequin in Pyrmont which is the pub I run now. It is known as a bit of a rugby pub but we have a big football following there. And i love my nix so i will ensure you are looked after...All games are on the big screens. Beers are $4.60 or $13 jugs and we have 19 beers on tap. I'll put a spread on for Nix fans.

There is always a scattering of bling supporters

I ran the Haymarket Hotel last year where we had a few gatherings. Let me know if you guys are keen.

We also need to get together before our games this year... and drink some beer. With 4 teams to watch the nix gainst now, we have a few more drinking events to come!

The wind, the rain and the Phoenix!

All sounding promising. I can't get out to watch the game today unfortunately, but keen to give anywhere a go for future matches.

Already eyeing up that Newcastle game on November 18th as the first away trip. Happens to coincide with a beer festival kicking off there on the same day so could be a goodie. Will post details in a new thread at some point.

Also keen to meet a "KiwiBantam", was there for a wedding in May of this year & the next day the we all went to City's final match of the season against Di Canio's Swindon Town (Top v bottom but City not beaten either game).

Awesome ground.

Happy to meet up as well. Have been a bit all over the place in the last few weeks in terms of where we've been watching the Phoenix games, also been out of town a lot, but will definately be around for the Sydney match at the SFS.

As for Bradford,-  well words are failing me at the moment. It's a good time to be a Bantam!

Ha ha yes indeed. Of course, for the Sydney FC game I'll be wearing blue... but I have those two Bradford supporters whose wedding I went to over there living here in Sydney. I think they'd be happy to join you at the away end in their Bantam colours for the match against the NRMAWSWFC on March 10.
I may take a sickie for the return leg against Villa as I have Setanta & well, what's the point of paying for it if not for games like these?
