Huge game(s) and one of Ancelotti's biggest tests to date. Hopefully Essien and Drogba don't get injured during ACN otherwise we are screwed.

Not a great result for you guys this mornig, but it does keep things interesting at the top of the table.
something that i cam across this morning was a rather astounding statistic. Mourinho hasnt lost a home fixture against any opponent since 2002 with porto.

Though we are not playing to well so it is abit of a concern. Essien is key to our side it appears. Last season when he was out for ages we were crap and then when he returned we played well. Same this season it appears.

Essien is one of your most important players. Hiddink did nothing- it was Essien's return that knocked us out of Europe!

Yeah. The 1-3 killed me. But 4-4 was enough to make me feel good. Just pure effort and heart from our lot. 0-2 and cruising. Took a few dives from Drogba to get back in the game. Plus I could take the moral high ground, when you booed your players off at half-time. Support? Psh. And then the plastic flags at the end. Great second leg.

Yeah, but Alex's free kick was won by a clear dive by Drogba! Argh, the memories of our ties. Terry dropping his knee on Drogba, Hyypia going down for a clear penalty, and then Ballack and Drogba confronting him as if he had dived. Penalties. Rafa sitting cross-legged. Luis Garcia. Ah, those were the days! Champion's League! Haha, touche.

And the goal that never was that won you that first CL tie against us?  Don't get us started on that!

It really did, especially when the majority of the players breaking the rules were the opposition!

On a side note LOL at ballack for kicking Terry in the head. One way to ensure you're the most hated player at your club.

Serious question Chelsea fans.

What has given rise to your team's inexplicable reason for not being able to defend aerial balls of any kind this season?

Yeah good point. Also we are still first which is good with a game in hand. Praying that with what happened with the Togo team that there is not another attack and someone like Essien gets unlucky.

I think it has alot to do with Cech, he's unnerved the defence with his flapping at crosses. His confidence has not been the same since the injury at Reading a few years back. Nearly every game he makes a poor decision on a cross either staying put when he should be coming out or punching when he should be catching, JT and Co have no idea what he will do next and the result is some shambolic defending at times.

Saying that i still believe he is one of the top keepers in the Prem, his shot stopping and reflex saves are top drawer and often he has won us games, its just his consistancy on the high ball is lacking now.

Another factor at corners has been poor marking from Carvalho and Drogs in particular, both losing their man and costing soft goals

We need to tighten up in this area if we are to win the trophys were after.

"Losing their man"? Wait, are you suggesting that man-to-man marking concedes goals?! Only zonal marking does that!

Joe Cole maybe shown the door at Chelsea...on 80k week....now wants 120k  a week.....most[ALL] of the midfielders at the Phoenix are playing better than him. He is free to leave at the end of the season, hope they don't give in to him....

Exactly. But whenever we concede a goal off a set piece (which admittedly we have done a lot lately!) it gets blamed on zonal marking. But you almost never hear anybody blaming man-to-man marking.
