I'd also like to point out that I said to a mate, "Bet you Drogba will get a red if Chelsea don't win" at about half time as me and him were watching it on his iPhone. :D
So whens Carlo's gonna get the sack?
First European game next season.
Must seem a long way off....

Mate I'm won't be losing faith - its everyone else at your club that will. The fact you say Avram Grant took over mid-season and nearly won and EPL and UCL yet you sacked him just proves the point!
Chelsea fans. What do you think of Ballack's form this season. Personally i think he's been missing for large parts of it and for a player with such ability and talent should be held accountable more often than he is. Anyway i'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
Ballack, in my opinion, has had one good spell with us since joining. I always thought he was anonymous under Mourinho but Grant did seem to get the best out of him. He had a good spell that year and seemed to be at the heart of our good run of form that pushed the Mancs all the way (who could forget his winning header against them at the Bridge?). But he seems to have only one gear and he's again been poor this season overall.
As for last night, we were poor. It's as simple as that. I think Carlo got his tactics wrong and he always seems very reluctant to change systems. The beauty of Jose was that he would go to 3 at the back if we were chasing the game, as did Hiddink. Ancelotti reminds me very much of Scolari in that he sticks too rigidly to a system whether the performance dictates a need for change or not. Don't get me wrong, as long as Carlo is our manager I'll back him. It does no good to keep changing managers. The board now have a decision. They either need to back Carlo with money in the summer or they need to get whoever they deem is the right man in, and stick with him long-term. We had the best manager around (Mourinho - yes, I think he's better than Fergie and history will prove that) but Roman ditched him. Hiddink was the next best thing but I can't see him coming back.
Drogba's red card was debatable. Yes, a stamp has to mean a red card, but Motta was practically getting a piggyback off Drogba at the time. The number of times Inter's defenders (typical Italian defending) were wrestling our forwards to the ground was ridiculous. If the ref doesn't spot it, then what the f**k was the lino doing? On the plus side, I thought Zhirkov, Malouda and Turnbull were outstanding. Turnbull didn't have much to do but when he was called on, he did us proud for one so inexperienced.
We need to go all out for the league now. It just depends whether enough of the players are hungry enough. CAREFREE, WHEREVER YOU MAY BE....!!!!!PaulSG2010-03-17 21:39:24

So with Drogba getting a red, how does his suspension work, does he not have one, or is it the first game of next season?

have faith in carlo, losing to inter, whilst annoying right now, isnt the end of the world.
we have a great chance to win back to back fa cups and are still very much in the title race
mourinho never won the ucl with chelsea either so dont go acting like he has no faults and is our only chance at silverware
avram grant took us extremely close to both an epl and ucl title and he took over mid season
lets wait and see how carlo does this season overall before calling for his head
Must seem a long way off....
yea he missed the first two games of this ucl after being banned from our loss to barca
and in the previous year he got sent off in the final vs man utd
he gets worked up and gets himself sent off when our european campaign is on the line
He sure is a great guy.
Very lovable.

I agree with your comment regarding the tactics. I think Mourinho got it spot on and Ancelotti came up short big time. He tried to adapt to suit Inter's Serie A style of approach and play too cute in the packed midfield and it backfired. Mourinho got it spot on by playing a simple counter attacking approach. I don't think his substitutions were up to much either.
Yep you certainly have a slight advantage over us and United in concentrating on the league now. Hopefully it's a great race right till the end.

ive had similar thoughts regarding ballack, has played some outstanding football for us and when he was playing like this we just looked a better team with him in it
i would like to see a manager given a long term spell, i thought thats what we were seeing with mourinho.
as for the tackling down in the box, i saw parts of the game after work and was pretty surprised they didnt get called up for them, pretty blatant
Please, Arsenal/ Chelsea. Win the League. Hopefully we can beat the Mancs this weekend for you!
Yeah, I saw the game. Not a very good showing from you. Mourinho got it perfect. Italian defending... *Sigh* Personally don't think Ballack has been good at all- apart from under Grant, I suppose.
And now john terry has gone and run over a Chelsea steward and broken his leg
yea, good night for us
I have to report though, that the stories going around in the press on this are greatly exaggerated. It turns out that he didn't actually break the steward's leg, but it was badly bruised. This was as a result of the media pushing him against the car when JT was leaving the stadium. There is a full statement on the club website and I also know a couple of stewards at the Bridge who have confirmed the press have gone OTT. But, as blues, we get used to the press witch hunt against us. But, yes, definitely not a good end to the night either way...
Apologies for the pettyness in advance... but I just found this joke
The US Military have just recovered a tape with recordings of the World's Most-Wanted Terrorist, Usama Bin Laden. He says that he is still in good health, and that Al-Qaeda are ready to strike again with is help. At the end of the tape, he sends his deep condolences to Roman Abramovich's Chelsea after they failed to win their first-ever Champions League. However, the US Military are unsure when the tape was recorded, saying it could have been any time within the last 7 years !

huge game tonight, man we need the 3 points. not expecting huge changes from midweek.
well that was f**ken awful
too many times we have played sh*t and dropped points in crucial games against mediocre teams, not good enough at all
most players were pretty piss poor today. at 1-0 blackburn were always a threat but we failed to put the game beyond reach and payed the penalty.
1st ten minutes we were good but thats about it
even if we had got a late winner it wouldnt have excused yet another sub par performance.
i do believe samba should have been sent off for his taking down of anelka when he was through on goal. didnt seem just shoulder to shoulder to me. diouf was allowed to rant and moan and wave his arms around in front of the ref every time a call went against blackburn, got bloody annoying and he should have been booked
really hope ancelotti can get us some silverware, cant be bothered with yet another manager change in the off season. unless jose comes back.

Spot on Downey. I thought we looked decent for periods in the first half but it all went south very quickly after that. I don't understand Carlo's thinking in bringing on Sturridge in the 90th minute either?! Should've come on instead of bringing Deco on earlier in the second half.
It now puts real pressure on us to win at Pompey on Wednesday if we're to keep our hopes of winning the title alive this season. If we don't win it, I think we can wave goodbye to Carlo as Roman will almost certainly issue him with his P45 (thought a change of manager again is the last thing we need really).
Word is that Hilario, Ferreira, Carvalho, Deco, Joe Cole, Ballack, Belletti and Anelka (if he doesn't sign the 1yr extension) will be off-loaded during the summer. And whilst I'd love to see Jose back, I can't see it ever happening as long as Roman is in charge.
of those players you mentioned being offloaded, joe cole would be the the one i would most want to stay
yea if we dont win at pompey i cant see us then coming back to win it
yea if we dont win at pompey i cant see us then coming back to win it
bit worrying to see ivanovic go off injured
petr and ballack back for portsmouth midweek
JT needs to sit everyone down and refocus them, make them hungry for the win and install some belief that we can still win the title

Ballack, Carvalho and J. Cole would be the biggest loses for Chelsea. Anelka is useful as well.
Don't think Mourinho will ever go back to Blues.

It is good to have Cech back for Wednesday, although I think Turnbull has surpassed expectations during his short spell in the side.
I agree with Coachingsoccer about the loss of Carvalho. I still rate him as the best centre-half at the club (different player to JT but a better all-rounder in my opinion). Right from the first game he played for us, Riccy looked the business. For such a small bloke, he's very useful in the air too. I saw him mark Crouch out of the game on his debut back in 2004.
I'm undecided on whether Ballack going is a good thing or not. He's one all the fans either love or hate. He needs to step up more often than he does though. If there is a cheaper and younger option out there, I'd be tempted to part ways with him. Joe Cole must stay though. It reeks very much of Scolari's relationship with Drogba. Occasionally you get a Manager and a player who just don't rate each other. I think that's the case with Carlo and Joey. To let him go would be a big mistake in my opinion, despite his poor form since his return.
PaulSG2010-03-23 00:30:32
yea for mine joe cole and carvalho would be a big loss, though carvalho is getting towards the end, but still has alot to offer. maybe a 1-2year contract.
We NEED to keep joe cole.
ballack has been amazing at times, but i think we could cope without him, still, often we look a better team with him in it. but is a bit inconsistant
