good to see Atkinson and Cullen each grab their 1st league goals - hopefully no scouts or managers were paying attention at those moments

good to hear rumours of Geovanni, Bo Myhill and JVoH attracting interest

Marney, a bloke who's agent must have been a hypnotist to get a 4 year deal until 2012, is the first to leave. His agent has got him a deal with Burnley with 1 million coming our way by way of a transfer fee and that's also the first million of the wage bill too.
There is a God!

in other (good) news

this from times online ..

>>
Football League clubs accepted the Premier Leagues controversial revised proposals on parachute payments at a stormy meeting of chairmen yesterday.

In a move that may overshadow tonights Coca-Cola Championship play-off, second leg between Blackpool and Nottingham Forest, clubs relegated from the Premier League will receive 48 million in parachute payments, spread over four years, rather than the present arrangement of 16 million over two seasons.

While Championship clubs voted in favour, League One and Two clubs were far from unanimous. The lower-league clubs had opposed the changes at a meeting 11 days ago, but were told by the Premier League that they had little option but to accept. However, The Times understands that yesterday many remained vehemently against the changes, which they view as aiming to perpetuate the elite status of members within the top flight.

The meeting, at Bankss Stadium, Walsall, overran by an hour during a frank exchange of views. Some chairmen and chief executives are understood to have been unhappy at being asked to accept an agreement on trust without knowledge of the finer details.

Hull City, Burnley and Portsmouth will receive 16 million for each of the next two seasons and 8 million for each of the two after that. The other Championship clubs will receive 2.3 million a year, League One sides 325,000 and League Two clubs 250,000. <<

that could prove really !! useful

some sources say that the Beeb has it starting only from next season - i hope Aunty is wrong!

Quick question;

why do relegated teams generally struggle with finances? Apparently the Tigres will be in mega debt next year. Jimmy has to go, 50k per week is crazy.

the gap between the salary you need to offer to attract Prem players to replace championship ones is huge - that is the reason most clubs struggle (esp new clubs or yo-yo clubs)

in our case we've made it worse by throwing money at agents and not having relegation clauses in all contracts for players signed since going up

we also have too many of our higher earners who Phil B had rejected and so we had to recruit to replace players that we still had on the books but weren't going to get a game (eg cousin, folan)

other folks might have other issues (either genreally for the prem , or specific top City)that i've missed

edit -oh, yeh and it really does look like duffen was a f**kwit tigers2010-05-14 07:08:24

big Ben Burgess 9off the bench in the play-off final) and Stephen mc Phee might get a trip to the Prem (despite having not travelled there with us)

I wonder if Blackpool will hold on to them or let them go

seems from some Brit media (not club site yet) that brown has been paid-off to the tune of 800K

and nicky featherstone has been re-signed as we look to rebuild our squad with cheap youngsters

from club site >> The Club has offered professional contracts to five members of its Youth Alliance North East Conference title-winning squad.

Dean Deagle, Danny Emerton, Joe Fox (main picture), Daniel Wilkinson and Danny East have all been given the chance to step up to the first team squad next season and the Club believe all five have very bright futures in the game. <<

My commiserations to Hull City fans, as you have just appointed Mark Maguire to run operations. This is the same Mark Maguire who helped F**k up Stockport County when the supporters trust owned the club. He helped put the club into administration before putting together a bid to take it over. He came on board with all good intentions as he was/is a passionate County fan, but running a restaurant does not give you the skills to run a football club on a very tight budget. I am sure that MM didnt set out to F**k County over but he just didnt have the wherewithall to carry it off, he is a brilliant media man & can turn a conversation around to his advantage very easily, but getting the job done seems a bit beyond him.

In the meantime, back at the ranch...........

Ghilas gone on a season's loan to a French side (80,000 quid off the wage bill) and sadly, one of the original 3 from our League 2 days, Boaz Myhill, has been sold to West Brom for a reported 1.5 million. Boaz cost us a mere 50,000 originally and said he doesn't want to leave but the Club is in such s financial mess that he has no choice.

On the3 brighter side, have you seen a better goal celebration than this:

sad to see Myhill go, certainly (along with Ash and Daws) part of the fairy-tale rise from the bottom to the top division

still seems we need to get rid of a few more - touch wood we'll hold on to Cairney and Cullen

apparently Bullard won't be included in the squad for Swansea game, as he is close to triggering an additional payment to Fulham

and no doubt because we want him to chose between earning lots of money to not play football and earning lots of money to play football

and our finances might just be getting sorted form a Brit website

I think the first para means all overdue debt, but it might mean all debt as the actual words suggest ??

>>

"All liabilities in respect of player purchases has been rescheduled by affordable payment plans and all debt will be paid in full to all clubs by August 2011.

"In the meantime the club will continue with its program to reshape the playing squad in order to meet overhead targets and so as to maintain a sustainable cost base in the future against known revenue streams."

City have reduced their annual wage bill from around 34m to just over 16m over the summer as a total of 13 players have left the club. <<

oh well if we do end up mid-table it'll be less stressful than many recent season

if when Koren, Bostock and Simpson fit in alongside Cairney and co. we could produce some better form

I find it disturbing that Koren has had more shots on goal in the last two games than Altidore did in an entire season and couldn't convert one of them.
