Still nothing up front though. Simpson, McLean and Cullen not up to this level and Fryatt cannot do it on his own.
Just my opinion but I do not think that the EPL is in the owners sights just now. There is nobody in the present team who could play at that level and the players coming in are just replacements. Richard Garcia has been offered a years extension (on less wages) but has not accepted yet whilst there are some rumours that he has had offers from the Oz A League.
The parachute payments from the EPL have been spent so there is little or nothing in the War-Chest so I cannot see us much better than second quarter next season at this stage.
Pre-season 'friendlies' against Grimsby, North Ferriby and a pub team in Lincolnshire do nothing for me but there is one at home to Feyenoord that might test the metal.
Couple of months to see what happens yet.

North Ferriby are a great club. I used to play for them :-). Is it at Church Road or the KC? I remember being on the bench when we played City in the East Riding Cup final at Boothferry Park. Bit of a buzz that. I managed to get a NF shirt that was worn at Wembley when they were in the FA Vase Final the season before I arrived. The might Green and Whites.

Further to my previous post I am sorry to report that Richard Garcia has had a further operation on his cruciate ligament and will now be out for between 6 and 9 months. This means that having not signed a new contract he was offered in february he will be in limbo for almost all of next season without pay. Hull City, to their credit, have said that they will 'look after' Richard during his rehabilitation but this could mean the end of Richards career.

Home to Blackpool would be a draw at best for me. This is followed by a visit to Eland Road where we face long time rivals Leeds then another away match at Ipswich. I can see no points from those two games before we play Crystal Palace at home where we should surely get the three points. We should pick up points against Peterborough and Pompey but loos like another slow start for me.
We have just signed journeyman Adebola from Notts Forest but at 36 he is hardly going to be much better than average so looks like mid-table mediocracy next season unless we get some decent loan-ins.

We seem to be going back to the "Dad's Army" we attained some time ago.
We have to give them a go however and reserve our judgement after half a dozen games or so.
To achieve Premiership status again we would need a team of players capable of playing at that level and none of our current team are capable so the Club is (imo) not intending to reach the play-off's this season. I feel that we will wallow in the third quarter this season as we have a mere 3 or 4 players who could be classed as 'above average' for this league.
We will get the first game against Blackpool "live' as it is to be televised by Sky so we will be able to have a look at our new team first hand.

Sky in OZ -I guess not here though (but would be a bonus, if so)

agree about giving the squad a chance to prove itself - the gruop of ex man u youngsters could develop into a solid core

Wouldn't say it's that bad - you've signed half our youth/reserve team - all 19/20/21

Nah! We had seven chances which an 'above average' striker at this level would have put away. Nicky Barmby is not a striker but was so close on three occasions; Matty Fryatt should have put both his chances away whilst Simpson had a good chance which he blew wide and an absolute sitter which he put over the bar. They had their one chance and took it.
I have a bet with a poster on the "Not606" boards that if Simpson scores 15 goals this season I will strip naked in front of Paragon Station, stick a didgeridoo up my @rse and fart "Falling in Love with You". After his performance against Blackpool I have upped that to TWO didgeridoo's and I will also play "Waltzing Matilda" on the harmonica!

Great result v Ipsh*t. Matty Fryatt late goal sealed it. Makes up (sort of) for losing to Macclesfield Town in the cup. Looking like the trend from last season continues of winning away and losing at home.

Yes. Jimmy;s situation has been resolved but nobody is allowed to talk about it for a few days. Word has it that he is either joining Ipswich (hence the delay so he couldn't play against us yesterday) or QPR.
Good result yesterday and a great goal by Matty - having forecast a 4-0 loss to Ipswich I am now eating a large portion of humble pie.

yep NZSeb and hopefully so it ends

it could have been very different for the club if he hadn't been either crocked and/or unlucky

he is a decent footballer with dodgy knees and a head that seems to put a smile on people's faces one day and not long after see him let the drink make a fool of him

shame we didn't see more of him on the pitch

from a tigers website

>>

Jimmy Bullard has been given his notice by Hull City. Chief Executive Mark Maguire made the announcement on the clubs official website, also saying that Bullard has the right to appeal.

After signing from Fulham in January 2009 for a transfer fee of around 5million and on wages reported to be upwards of 45,000 per week, the midfielder made 18 starts and 5 substitute appearances in the league, scoring 6 goals. His final appearance was in the FA Cup defeat to Wigan in January of this year, prior to his loan move to Ipswich. <<

Bullard has signed a two year deal with Ipswich.

oh well ...a lot of money (in our terms) , a lot of skill, a few laughs and nowhere near enough impact on the pitch (mainly due to injuries, at the start; and management/player problems in the N.Pearson era)

City are now unbeaten since August 20 and with 15 points gathered from a possible 21, Pearson's men are the form side in the Championship.

It could have been an even better return after the Tigers twice hit the crossbar at Brighton through Aaron Mclean and Robert Koren, while spurning a string of other chances. <<
