big rumors going round that the club been sold to citehs owners brother, apparently to be announced on the 15th july
Full story: Daily Mail
I read that both Gerrard and Carragher both agreed to Hodgson as a replacement. Good if it's true. Last thing you need is your senior players to create a rift before the manager's got his new tie on.
Excited for Roy?? Seriously? Look, I'm pretty underwhelmed by this appointment- a step down from Rafa, imo. But, he'll get my full support. He isn't to blame for the current situation. Hopefully he can do well. Just feel he is a "yes man" for the Yanks, Purslow etc.
Wouldn't say I was jumping for joy but given our circumstances he's one of the sensible choices. There was no way we were getting a top tier manager, we don't have the money or the European status right now to demand it. He may well be a 'yes man' at the moment but if he can see us through to when we get new owners then he's done his job.
As far as I'm concerned it's clean slate time. I'll support him 110%. Welcome Woy!
f**k off to Madrid, Stevie. You can be second best to Barca every season.
Let hope he goes
Should hire Mr Herbert. Top manager and should be fairly cheap. :)
Got the weekly LFC email and see they're offering free name + number on the new away shirts. Lots news of merchandise protests and refusal to purchase gear in the UK at the moment until H&K leave. Also interesting given some players could still leave. Don't go buy your new Torres shirt yet
P.S. Still no manager...

Hope so but doubt it.
How about this? Great way to impress your new club huh?
jeez, even the free transfers are wanting out and he's not even "in" yet!! So embarrassing for the club. Some very unhappy times ahead lads. :(
OTHER GOSSIP
Roy Hodgson will move a step nearer becoming Liverpool's next manager
after completing his role with BBC Sport at the World Cup. Full story: Daily Mail
I see today that sky sports has an article saying that liverpool are chasing Rijkaard.
the all whites have been getting mad shout outs from the LFC facebook page.
its great to see

Good news! Gerrard, Carragher and Johnson all get a break before the season starts.
Nando looks out of sorts but he hasn't really played for a few months.

Looks like Roy's set to be announced as new Manager on Thursday. (Friday NZ)
Roy Hodgson poised to become new Liverpool manager
Pretty sure that's the first day the new Standard Chartered sponsorship kicks in too. 1 July?

its also the day the transfer window opens.
in roy we trust
in roy we trust
So what do we reckon guys? Good appointment?
I don't really know a lot about Roy but he seems to have done a pretty good job at Fulham and is well respected by the players. I'm worried about a couple of things and it would be the same regardless of the manager: The relationship the Manager will have with the owners and Purslow, Funds, attracting players. Lots of pieces that need to fit together...
Here's a pretty in depth piece on Roy:

Sounds like it is a done deal. I wonder if he will be a caretaker until we get new owners same as Mark Hughes at City. He will be better in the transfer market than Rafa I am sure.

Although I just read this and it didn't look very good on his transfer dealings
BBC's take on the situation: https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2010/06/hodgson_perfect_for_liverpool.html
Can't see him being a caretaker Manager. They'll need someone to stick around for a couple of years and rebuild. I just hope they don't put unrealistic pressure on him. Top 4 maybe a tad out of reach at them moment...

if he can take a team with zamora to the Europa league final,
he must be doing something right.
im excited for this, only concern is if how the players feel about this...

Seems like Hodgson deal almost done, with the reporting of a 2m buy out of his Fulham contract. Nothing on the .tv yet

Surely if Stevie does then Torres will stay around
Luckily for you guys no one will want Torres in his current form...
He only needs one goal at the right time in the right game to be immortalised.

he was one of serbias better players in a dissapointing wc campaign for them,
wont be no world beater, but i rekon he can do a good job for us.
also look at the circumstances under which roy tookover at inter, it is very similar to where we are now and he got them through their tough times. im confident he can get us back into the top four

Lots of rumours re Stevie G leaving to Madrid. Might be true this time I reckon. Welcome Roy...........good luck!
New sponsorship with SC has just been released on the LFC site.

Meh. Just not sure if I can bring myself to get excited about someone the Yanks and Purslow (t**ser) brought in.
And, I think I've already said it, but if Torres goes then I give up on football.
Who would you have then? Any manager brought in will be under the Triads* thumb...

roy's got stevies backing, which is a good sign
Looks like Roy's going to sit down with Stevie and co, have a cuppa tea and jaffa cakes and nut out what the players want. As long as they sort it out early so we can find players if need be.
I'll let you read between the lies with Broughton's latest comments...
No bids yet, reveals Broughton

There was some quite revealing little snippets in the interview. Rafa's said it was Purslime that decided he had to go and was upset they met while he was on holiday. He had no idea the meeting took place.
Nice stuff about a lot of the players and insights to a number of matches (Istanbul, FA Cup etc)

From Broughton's lips:
Does the club need to sell players to pay off debt?
No it doesn't, I want to be absolutely clear about that because I've heard a lot of rumours. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have no need to sell any players to pay off the debt.
If we were to sell anyone, then the money would be reinvested in the squad.

My biggest concern with the signing of Roy is that they have signed a manager who is used to operating where he has to do a lot with very little resources. Not a good sign really.
