After the dead and their families, I felt most sorry for the policemen actually there dealing with it. Horror sights, not equipped well enough, on a hiding to nothing - and then when they had their chance to vent in their statements, they were vetted and altered without them knowing until years later.
The ones interviewed in that doco were clearly terribly affected by the whole thing, it was very sad.
