It’s out of our hands now

The Acceptance

·  This was one of the few years that most Liverpool fans for once kept their gobs shut and didn’t claim ‘our year’…so we’re then teased with it and it’s then taken away. Ouch.

·  Fair play to Chelski in that they came with a plan and executed it perfectly. One team came to play football, the other to stop if from happening and the latter succeeded. Shows that while Rodgers has massively improved and should possibly be manager of the season, The ‘Special’ One is still the master of mind games

·  We need City to drop points now and win both games. If both Pool and Citeh win their remaining games, we will come second on goal difference to the new champions. That will sting more than missing out by 3-6 points. Need Everton to do us a HUGE favour.

·  If we don't win the title, I'm glad it will be MCFC. As Pellegrini said, it'd be sad for football if teams playing like Chelsea won it. It might be effective, but it's not attractive or enjoyable to watch. MCFC, for all their faults and splashing the cash, play the game the right way.

The Whinge

·  The way Chelski played that game was awful, especially from a manager who had taken West Ham to task over their defensive, boring football and went off at a Crystal Palace ballboy for time wasting.

·  On the time wasting, Chelski were at it from the first minute. Every opportunity to slow the play down was taken – laces, changes of kick taker/thrower, players refusing to leave the field for treatment. For all that time wasting, especially the keeper, the ref showed one yellow card…in the 92nd minute

·  Liverpool need a plan B! They have gotten by with plan A working every week – score early, score lots and hope to concede less. Today they needed a plan ‘B’ that either included 1) sit back the same as CFC and take the draw (enough to stay in front of Citeh) or 2)  a big, tall target man and start bombing in the long balls. Unfortunately, the latter plan needs the purchase of a big forward, not necessarily a top player, but rather a bench player with a bigger prescience in the box (no, not Carroll!!).

·  For anyone who says we got beaten by a weak side, the worth of their ‘B’ size is estimated anywhere between $5m less to $12m more than our starting XI. Not sure I’d consider a team containing Ba, Lampard, Mikel, Cole, Matic a B side. Mind games that worked for 'The Smug One' right there.
